Barbara A. Kernicky (nee Gaudioso)

Barbara A. Kernicky (nee Gaudioso) passed away suddenly at home on July 2.

She was born on June 4, 1942 to Michael J. and Anna T. (Vassallo) Gaudioso and was raised in Aldan, graduating from Lansdowne-Aldan High School, then began work at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. After marrying her husband in 1967, they moved to their home in Clifton Heights. After their children started school, Barbara began working as a substitute teacher’s assistant with Upper Darby School District, eventually taking on a full time position until her retirement. She loved working with children, especially those with special needs.

She enjoyed the beach and had fond memories of summers in Brigantine, NJ. Barbara also loved horses and was an avid Phillies fan.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Michael to whom she was married for 50 years, her daughter Barbara DiFilippo (Carl), sons Michael Kernicky and Matthew Kernicky (Greta), grandchildren Michael DiFilippo and Mikki DiFilippo, sister Diane Tucker (Tom), nephew Frank Cranmer (Jennifer) and great-niece Samantha, niece Kim Wilson (Glenn) and many other family and friends who meant so much to her.

A Celebration of Barbara’ s life will be Friday 10a.m. at O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064, and her Service 12p.m. at the funeral home. Int. Private. In lieu of flowers please donate to Providence Animal Center, 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, PA 19063
