Mantash still the man for Ridley Park

Ridley Park’s Tyler Mantash is making a name for himself in the Delco Swim League.

Mantash has been “the man” this season and he continued his success in the pool Saturday morning. The 12-and-under swimmer broke another team record, this time in the backstroke in 19.02 seconds, and helped Ridley Park to a 249-196 C Division victory over Clifton Heights.

The record was one of three wins for Mantash, who also bested the competitio­n in the individual medley and freestyle relay.

Other triple winners for Ridley Park were Madelyn Spielberge­r (8U butterfly, breaststro­ke, relay), Braydan Saunders (8U fly, breast, relay), Ava Heinly (10U fly, freestyle, relay), AnnaMary Miller (12U fly, free, relay), Logan Swoyer (12U fly, breast, relay) and Paige Dyer (14U fly, free, relay).

The 14U relay of Sabella Saulino, Nicole Pepper, Ella Sleutaris and Sofia Saulino broke a team record with a time of 2:06.30.

Ava Despeaux (12U IM, fly, breast) and Jonathan Sandone (12U IM, breast, free) were triple winners for Briarcliff­e.

LANSDOWNE 288, CONESTOGA 189 » Lansdowne’s Kelly Mekoue, Ashley Foppa, Spencer Thorne and Alex Chan all made their mark at Conestoga. Mekoue broke the pool records in the 14U IM (1:11.20) and butterfly (29.65), and a 34-year-old team mark in the breaststro­ke. Foppa (10U fly, back, free) set the pool record in the backstroke (18.15), while Thorne (14U IM, breast, free) swam a pool record-breaking time in the individual medley (1:06.50). Chan set a pool record in the 12U individual medley (1:11.67) teamed with Gabe Green, Brock Green and Reilly Shaffer to shatter the pool record with a time of 1:59.64.

Other triple winners for Lansdowne included Jannah Rhysheck (8U fly, breast, relay) and Kaden Stokes (8U fly, free, relay).

Avery Barber of Conestoga set a team record in the 14U freestyle with a time of 28.64. She also topped the competitio­n in the 14U back and free relay, which bested the pool and team record with a time of 1:58.68.

Grace Wakiyama (18U breast, IM, relay), Sophie Mlodzieski (12U back, IM, relay) and Jackson Farhy (10U fly, back, relay) were also triple winners for Conestoga.

In a crossover meet: BROOKHAVEN 320, ALDAN 246 » What a day it was for Brookhaven swimmers. Sometimes a swimming meet is too close to call, like this one. Nassau and Primos swam to a 202-202 tie in a Gold Division contest.

Wyatt Hoke set a team record in the 8U backstroke (19.19) to help Hidden Hollow past Swarthmore, 263-229.

Hoke (8U medley relay, back, breast, free relay) was a quadruple winner along with Jimmy Greek (18U medley relay, back, butterfly, free relay), Jonathan Hoole (12U medley relay, breast, free, free relay) and Wyeth Cowan (10U medley relay, free, butterfly, free relay).

For Swarthmore, Clare Scharschan (14U medley relay, free relay, free, 18U breast), Ella Shifflett (14U medley relay, free relay, back fly) and Jamison Soerio (14U medley relay, free relay, back, fly) were quadruple winners.

Kevin Agger broke a record in the 8U backstroke (21.85). The foursome of Agger, Maach Rimler, Carmelo Grasso and Bobby Lythgoe set a mark in both the 8U medley relay and freestyle relay. In the 14U free relay, Madison Gibson, Cella, Emily Reynolds and Vanderslic­e made history with a time of 2:06.18.
