Hemphill’s 30 leads Geriot to win over Freedom Mortgages

Branden Hemphill’s big night carried CDL Geriot to a 56-43 win over Freedom Mortgages in senior division play of the West Laurel Hill/ Springfiel­d League Monday. Hemphill scored 30 points, a season-high for the league. Jason Smith paced Freedom Mortgages with 15 points.

In the intermedia­te division: CREATIVE FINANCIAL 35, MICHAEL & CO. 24 » Shane McGuire scored nine points to help Financial to victory. Sam DiGregorio poured in a game-high 16 points in the loss.

Diving

There was no stopping Lily Horenkamp Monday night.

The Tinicum diver scored 248.80 points to claim the Delco Diving League Junior Girls Championsh­ips by more than 60 points at Ridley Park Swim Club.

A pair of divers from the hosts earned the other spots in the Elite Meet. Trinite Conover was second with 189.40 points, and Ashley DePrinzio earned third at 187.00. They’ll compete in the 13-14 age group at the Elite Meet.

Lexi Crossley of Tinicum took fourth, fractions ahead of Ridley Township’s Kayleigh Kennedy. Ava Keller of Ridley Township placed seventh, sandwiched between Prospect Park’s Cheyenne Dean and Maryanna Nagle. Those three will compete in the Elite Meet’s 11-12 age group.

Softball

Brooke Berger went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs, including the game-winning two-run triple in the sixth inning as Appco’s Sports World/Duke’s topped Casey’s, 9-8, to draw first blood in the final of the Suburban Women’s Slow-pitch A Division final.

Alie Alkins and Dawn McGrath backed winning pitcher Vicky Pecunia with strong defense as Appco’s took the lead in the bestof-3 series. They can close it out Tuesday at Manor Field.
