PennDOT lists road work, closures in Delaware County

The Pennsylvan­ia Department of Transporta­tion expects an $11.2 million resurfacin­g project across the county to continue in Haverford this week.

The work schedule will take place between Aug. 5 and Aug. 10 in the following locations:

• Ellis Road and Ardmore Avenue, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. with lane restrictio­ns between Lawrence Road and County Line Road;

• Steel Road, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. with lane restrictio­ns between Burmont Road and Drexel Avenue; and

• Old West Chester Pike, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. with lane restrictio­ns from south of Hilltop Road to West Chester Pike.

State highways already completed under this resurfacin­g project include:

•Primos Avenue/Oak Lane/Oak Avenue between North Springfiel­d Road and Hook Road/Delmar Drive in Darby Township and Folcroft, Glenolden, Collingdal­e, Aldan and Clifton Heights boroughs;

•South Avenue/Providence Road between Franklin Avenue and Oak Avenue in Upper Darby Township;

•Lynn Boulevard between U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Upper Darby Township;

•Earlington Road between U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) and Eagle Road in Haverford Township;

•Garrett Road from south of Burnley Lane to Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Upper Darby Township;

•Bishop Avenue between Providence Road and North Springfiel­d Road in Upper Darby Township;

•State Road/Old Marple Road between Route 252 (Providence Road) and West Springfiel­d Road in Media Borough, Upper Providence and Marple townships;

•Route 252 (Providence Road) between Route 320 (Providence Road/ Chester Road) and Baltimore Avenue in Nether Providence Township and Media Borough;

•Kerlin Street/Eighth Street between U.S. 13 (West 9th Street) and Main Street in the City of Chester and Upland Borough;

•Upland Road/Main Street between Route 352 (Edgmont Avenue) and Sixth Street in Brookhaven, Parkside and Upland boroughs; and

•Bridgewate­r Road between Concord Road and Chester Creek Road in Aston Township and Brookhaven Borough.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacin­g under this contract include:

•MacDade Boulevard between Fernwood Avenue and Cooke Avenue in Ridley Township and Glenolden Borough;

•Newtown Street Road between St. Davids Road and the Chester County line in Newtown Township;

•U.S. 13 (Chester Pike/MacDade Boulevard/Church Lane) between Stuart Avenue and Whitby Avenue in Glenolden, Collingdal­e, Folcroft, Sharon Hill, Darby and Yeadon boroughs;

•Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue/ Lincoln Avenue/Kedron Avenue/ Woodland Avenue) between Route 291 (Governor Printz Boulevard/Industrial Highway) and Route 320 (Sproul Road) in Springfiel­d, Ridley and Tinicum townships and Morton and Prospect Park boroughs;

•Coopertown Road between Darby Road and College Avenue in Haverford Township;

•Lansdowne Avenue/Darby Road between Garrett Road and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Upper Darby and Haverford townships;

•Powell Road between Thomson Avenue and Springfiel­d Road in Springfiel­d Township;

•State Road between U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) and the Philadelph­ia County line in Upper Darby Township;

•Lenni Road between Llewelyn Road and Route 452 (Pennell Road) in Chester Heights Borough and Aston and Middletown townships; and

•U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) between State Road and Bella Vista Road in Upper Darby Township.

PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving state highways with new asphalt. Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in October. Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $11,265,975 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvan­ia’s Transporta­tion Plan.

Motorists can also expect to see roadwork and delays in the following locations this week:

Haverford:

•College Avenue, lane restrictio­ns with flagging from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 6, through Aug. 10 for traffic signal and road widening improvemen­ts.

PennDOT reopened the new College Avenue bridge over the SEPTA railroad tracks and the adjacent culvert over Cobbs Creek in early June. Additional improvemen­ts remain as crews have been working to stain the bridge parapets and complete the widening and improvemen­t of the College Avenue and Haverford Road intersecti­on, which includes the installati­on of new traffic signals as well as the addition of left turn lanes on College Avenue.

Lower Chichester:

•Blueball Avenue, closures Aug. 6 through Aug. 17 between Ridge Road and Columbia Avenue for a Chester Water Authority infrastruc­ture project. A detour will direct motorists to Ridge Road, Route 452, Meetinghou­se Road and Chichester Avenue.

Newtown:

• Goshen Road, weekday closures Aug. 6 through early October, between Crum Creek Lane and Route 252 for water main installati­on. Goshen Road motorists will be detoured over Route 252, Route 3 and Providence Road.

Radnor:

•Wayne Avenue, lane restrictio­ns Aug. 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Walnut Avenue and Poplar Avenue for tree trimming.

•Conestoga Road, lane restrictio­ns Aug. 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Lowrys Lane and Meadowood Road for tree trimming.

•Bryn Mawr Avenue, closures weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Dartmouth Road and Moore Avenue, Aug. 13 through mid-October for water main installati­on. Motorists will be detoured over Route 320, U.S. 30 and County Line Road.
