Witness: ‘Stalker’ threatened ex before murder
Testimony began Tuesday in the trial of a Philadelphia man charged with the fatal stabbing of his former girlfriend in October 2016.
Hussain Kiadee, 34, of the 5900 block of Trinity Street, is facing charges of criminal homicide, murder in the first and third degrees and possessing an instrument of crime for the Oct. 21 slaying of 46-yearold Fabine Sunny Siryon.
The victim’s daughter, Yayay Siryon, told Assistant District Attorney Ryan Grace that her mother met Kiadee in 2014 and the two had a “good relationship” for about six or eight months.
“That’s when she told him that she didn’t want the relationship anymore,” the daughter said. “He got really upset.”
Yayay Siryon said Kiadee had some of her mother’s things at his apartment at 69th Street in Upper Darby and called her to let her know he was giving them away. When the victim and others arrived at the apartment, all of her things were gone, according to Siryon’s longtime friend and roommate, Edna Monger.
Monger also told Grace that Siryon “didn’t want to be bothered” with Kiadee anymore, prompting him to walk to the house they shared on the 600 block of Darby Terrace in Darby from 69th Street. Kiadee allegedly told Siryon at that time that if she did not change her mind, he was going to make her “eat your own s---.”
Monger said she drove Kiadee home and advised him not to threaten people. Monger said Kiadee had also come to the house on Thanksgiving 2015 around 8:30 or 9 p.m. She said he pushed her cousin out of the doorway and ran upstairs yelling for Siryon. Monger said she followed him and got him out of the house, where Siryon talked with him.
Monger, Yayay Siryon and other witnesses also said they had received phone calls from the victim indicating Kiadee was waiting for her outside of her work by her car. Kwame Blempong, another friend of the victim, said she received numerous calls from Kiadee while they were together that she ignored and described him as “her stalker.”
Monger said the victim did not go to police because she did not want to make trouble, but was eventually persuaded to make a police report in May 2016. “I’m going to kill you and if I don’t kill you, I’m going to have sex with (my) mom,” Kiadee allegedly told the victim at the time the report was made. Grace asked Monger if that was a common saying among the Liberian community and she answered that it is essentially a promise to do the first thing, since having sex with one’s own mother would be out of the question.
Police connected Kiadee to the murder through that report, as well as surveillance video on the day of Siryon’s death that allegedly shows Kiadee’s Nissan Maxima driving away from the scene, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Monger said the night before Siryon’s death, she was working on overnight shift. Only Siryon, her daughter and some children were in the house when she left. Yayay Siryon told defense attorney Gerald Stein that she left for work the day of her mother’s death around 5:30 a.m. and spoke to her before leaving. Only Siryon, her daughter and Monger had keys to the house, according to testimony.
The victim was found shortly before noon at her residence after police received a call of a woman lying on the floor with blood around her, according to the affidavit.
The first officer to arrive was flagged down by a man who directed him to the kitchen, where Siryon was found on the floor with a laceration to her left chest. Paramedics were called and pronounced her dead at the scene. Siryon’s death was later ruled a homicide due to multiple stab wounds.
The trial is expected to continue today before Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Capuzzi.
