Man guilty in grisly stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend

MEDIA COURTHOUSE » A Philadelphia man was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder and related offenses in the October 2016 stabbing death of his former girlfriend, 46-year-old Fabine Sunny Siryon.
Hussain Kiadee, 34, of the 5900 block of Trinity Street, was also found guilty of possessing an instrument of crime. The jury deliberated for less than three hours before returning a verdict.
Kiadee did not testify at trial, but said he wanted to make a statement after the verdict was recorded. He soon turned belligerent, however, accusing Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge John Capuzzi of bias and telling him he did not have to listen to him anymore before being taken out of the room by Sheriff’s deputies.

Darby Detective Jules Quartapella said Siryon was found face up on her kitchen floor on Oct. 21 with a large pool of blood around her head and chest area. A pair of flip-flops was on the floor of the kitchen and it appeared the victim had been preparing food, Quartapella said. He added that a knife block in the kitchen was missing a knife, which was not located in or around the house, but a kitchen knife with a broken tip was recovered from Kiadee’s Philadelphia home.
Quartapella said the victim was wearing a pair of gloves when she was found and had apparently been working with meat. Assistant District Attorney Ryan Grace read a stipulation that the gloves were sent out for DNA analysis and tested positive for two contributors: Fabine Siryon and Hussain Kiadee.
Siryon had two superficial stab wounds to her heart, but several other, deeper wounds to surrounding organs and tissues that caused massive blood loss, according to Delaware County Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. Bennett Preston.
Preston said the small grouping of wounds on the victim’s left upper chest and marks on her neck indicated she was held down on the floor by her throat as her assailant stabbed her.
“She wasn’t moving and he wasn’t moving either, except for his arm,” Preston said.
Preston said he did not know if more than one knife was used, but had measured the blunt edge of one penetrating wound at 1/16 of an inch. The knife recovered from the Trinity Street address also had a blunt edge of approximately 1/16 of an inch, he said.
“The house did not show any signs of robbery or burglary,” said Darby Detective Corporal Bryan Pitts. “There was no forced entry, there was nothing thrown about in the home, TVs were intact, her purse … was sitting right on the table in the kitchen undisturbed.”
Darby Borough Police Officer Steven Dougherty said Siryon had filed a police report in May 2016 claiming Kiadee had threatened to kill her. Pitts said he hit on that report during his investigation, which gave him Kiadee’s name and address, as well as a car registered in his name – a 2002 Nissan Maxima with a black hood and black bumper.
Officers recovered that vehicle from Kiadee’s address. Quartapella said the interior and a pair of sneakers were swabbed for blood, but came up negative.
Pitts said a canvass of the neighborhood resulted in security video footage taken by a neighbor across the street from the victim’s home and from a nearby SEPTA camera at 6th and Main streets.
Those videos were played for the jury. Pitts also described images taken from the video, which he said showed Siryon arriving home at 9:08 a.m. with groceries. What appeared to be the defendant’s car drove by at 9:31 a.m. and a man could be seen knocking on the door to the victim’s home at 9:33 a.m., according to Pitts.
At 9:42 a.m., the man came stumbling back out the door and a vehicle matching the defendant’s Nissan was seen driving back past the neighbor’s camera, Pitts said. At 9:44 a.m., the vehicle was seen in the SEPTA video approaching 6th Street and Darby Terrace, then turning onto 6th Street and heading toward Greenway Avenue.
The video showed no other activity at the address until the body was discovered, Pitts said. He was also able to place the last call Siryon made on her cell phone at 9:21 a.m.
Pitts said he confronted Kiadee with images from the videos and he identified the vehicle as his own, but claimed to have been in New York that day with his girlfriend from 9 or 10 a.m. to 8:35 p.m.
Pitts said Kiadee denied there was any possibility his car had been stolen and said the images must have come from a different date when he was visiting another woman on the block.
Cell phone tower records indicated Kiadee’s phone was near his home address from 9:08 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. Oct. 21 and did not start moving north until 11:14 a.m., according to Pitts. Towers recorded the phone moving up the east coast into New York and returning at 7:52 p.m.
Sentencing has been set for Sept. 27.
