Leroy (Roy) Hockenbury, 84, a longtime resident of Marcus Hook passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 20, 2018.

Roy was born on August 30, 1933 in Wilkes Barre, PA to Sarah and Mahlon Hockenbury. Roy and his wife JoAnn moved to Delaware County in 1958. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for a time at FMC Corp. but was especially proud of his career as a truck driver with Sawdust Shops and Alan McIlvain Co.

Roy loved his family deeply and was always there to lend a hand or offer advice. He enjoyed the many fun gatherings with his children and grandchild­ren and was the reigning champion of our cornhole games. Roy also enjoyed playing cards, classic cars, puzzle books, and sharing stories of his road trips.

Roy is predecease­d by his beloved wife of 47 years JoAnn in 2000, his grandson, Steven Hockenbury, in 2017, his daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Hockenbury, and his grandson, Robert Curl III, in

2018. Survived by his seven loving children Lee (Debbie) Hockenbury of Logan Township, NJ, Susan (Robert) Curl of Upper Chichester, Allen (Mary) Hockenbury of Ashburn, VA, William (Kim) Hockenbury of Seviervill­e, TN, John Hockenbury of Newark, DE, JoAnn Bezold of Marcus Hook, and Karen (Michael) Garrity of Glenolden. Also survived by his beloved grandchild­ren Laura, John, Heather, Lee, Jack, Matthew, Kristin, Jessica, David, Michael, Lindsey, Christophe­r, Kaitlyn, and Jennifer as well as 20 adoring greatgrand­children.

Visitation: Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market Street, Linwood, PA and Saturday from 9:3010:20 a.m. at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Avenue, Upper Chichester, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.

Interment at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
