Damico birdies Haverford to two wins

-

Andrew Damico knew that Monday’s tri-match was coming down to the wire for Haverford High. Just how close it would be with Germantown Academy, the sophomore didn’t quite know. But he finished his round with such a flourish that he left no doubt.

Damico sank three birdies, finishing up with birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to help Haverford edge GA, 196-198, in a nonleague match. Haverford also bested Central League foe Lower Merion, 196-239.

Damico carded a twoover-par 37 at Stonewall’s North Course, one of three sophomores to lead the Fords. Riley Quartermain tied for the low round of the day with a 36, birdieing seven and eight to finish at one-over. And Mike McCollum posted a career best 39 for the Fords (4-2,

2-0 Central). Seniors Holden Ungvary

1-under par, and Jack Cooley and Roy Anderson added 36s for Unionville.
