AP pulls away late to ace Chichester

The 3-0 final by which Academy Park defeated Del Val League rival Chichester was a deceiving one Wednesday. The Eagles gave the Knights all they could handle in the first two games, with Academy Park coming away with identical 2520 wins.

In the third game, the Knights finally pulled away with a 25-7 clincher.

Ashley Green and Jayanna Seabury combined for 14 aces to lead Academy Park, while Seabury added eight kills.

For Chi, Haley Speed had four kills, and Madison Weigand dished out five assists.

In the Central League:

GARNET VALLEY 3, RADNOR 0 » Rachel Cain’s 30 assists stood out from yet another strong team performanc­e from the Jaguars. Cain, who added three kills and five digs, dished to the likes of Samantha Mann (10 kills), Dolce Whitwell (nine) and Emma Rokosky (six).

Lucy Criscuolo (three kills) and Josie Darrach (four assists, two digs) led the Raiders.

RIDLEY 3, UPPER DARBY 0 » Defense helped make the difference for the Green Raiders in the sweep (25-13, 25-11, 25-6). Melanie June came away with 19 digs, while Anna Borcky and Madison Vinovrski combined for nine blocks.

Senior Lexie Witmer set the tone for the Royals with 12 digs. PENNCREST 3, HARRITON 0 » The Lions improved to 3-0 by sweeping the Rams (2514, 25-15, 25-11) in their Central League opener. Megan Ardnt led the way with seven kills and seven digs.

Lily Mallon added 13 digs, and Tina Balta was feeling philanthro­pic, handing out 19 assists.

STRATH HAVEN 3, SPRINGFIEL­D 0 » Three aces and 17 assists from Hailey Blum were more than enough to send the Panthers on their way to a sweep (25-5, 25-13, 2517). Her sets helped Ellie Fisher to nine kills and Gabby McGinn to six.

In the Catholic League:

BONNER & PRENDERGAS­T 3, ST. HUBERT 2 » Dakota McCaughan filled the stat sheet with nine aces, eight kill sand 17 digs as the Pandas recovered from two deficits to win in five, 17-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-21 and 15-13.

Sam Lachette provided 10 kills, Abby Lance came up with 15 kills and Lindsey Fagan dished 15 assists for the Pandas (1-0, 1-0).

CARDINAL O’HARA 3, CONWELL-EGAN 0 » The Lions (1-0, 1-0) got their season off to a strong start with game scores of 25-7, 25-11, and 25-12. Maeve Boylan drove the hosts with 13 assists and six aces.

O’Hara also got solid contributi­ons from Lauren Garvey (seven kills, three aces) and Reagan Hickey (two kills, five aces).
