• Edwin Singley Sword
Edwin Singley Sword, age 67 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at his home. He was born Friday, July 27, 1951 in Darby, PA, son of the late William T. Sword and Elizabeth Sword.
Mr. Sword was a 1969 graduate of Sharon Hill High School in Sharon Hill, PA. After high school, he honorably served his country in the US Air Force.
Mr. Sword worked for many years in customer service at Clifton Precision in Clifton Heights, PA. There, he met the love of his life, Lynda, whom he wed in 1982. Mr. Sword later worked at DELCORA in Chester, PA as a maintenance mechanic, retiring in 2016 after more than 30 dedicated years.
He loved the beach, particularly surf fishing at Cape Henlopen State Park, casting a line at every opportunity. Being a natural handyman, Mr. Sword enjoyed fixing things around the house.
He appreciated a good, home-cooked meal, but he hated peas!!! More than anything, however, Mr. Sword cherished time spent with his beloved family and friends, especially his granddaughter, whom he adored. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Sword is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lynda (Cloud) Sword of Lewes, DE; his sons: William M. Sword and his wife Catherine of Willow Grove, PA and Matthew A. Sword and his girlfriend Michele of Horsham, PA; his granddaughter, Mary Sword; his brother, William T. Sword of West Deptford, NJ; his best friends, Charles and Rosemary Flick of Springfield, PA; and his loyal canine companion, Bailey. Mr. Sword was undoubtedly greeted by his other furry pal, Gordy, who passed in January.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Berean Bible Church,
3320 Byberry Road, Philadelphia, PA.
