Virginia (Ginny) D. Speer (nee Keene)

Virginia (Ginny) D. Speer (nee Keene), age 87, of Media, Pennsylvania.

Mom went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia on June 4, 1931, daughter of the late A. Samuel and Florence E. (Knapp) Keene, she was raised in Havertown and graduated from Haverford High School in 1949.

She met our dad at the Tradesman Bank where she was a secretary and married our dad, Thomas A. Speer, Jr. on March 24,

1951. They moved to Springfield, Delaware County in

1952. She also worked in the billing office at Delaware County Hospital from

1968 until 1976.

Mom was very involved in Covenant United Methodist Church, Springfield, along with our Dad. She was also an active PEO member.

In 1995, Mom and Dad moved to Granite Farms Estates where she enjoyed volunteering on many committees, including Attic Treasures and the Fall Bazaar, and served as Vice President and President of the Granite Farms Residents’ Association for several terms.

They both loved going on many of the trips offered at Granite. However, Mom’s number one enjoyment was spending time with all her grandchildren and going to the beach with Dad. She also loved reading, sewing and crocheting, especially making blankets for mothers’ in need. Her mission in life was to help others if she could.

Survivors: daughter, Deborah E. Sahijwani (Ben Sahijwani), of West Chester; son, Steven R. Speer (Barbara) of Midlothian, VA; 5 grandchildren Jagat, Asha, Raj, Harry and Emily and 4 great-grandchildren Becca, Asha, April and Lawson; a sister, Dorothea Todd of Havertown and sister-inlaw, Bunny Keene of Cochranville.

Service: A Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 16 at 11 a.m. in the auditorium at Granite Farms Estates, 1343 W. Baltimore Pk., Media, PA 19063. The family will be receiving visitors at 10:15. Burial: Private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of choice.
