Free family expo and movie Friday night in Clifton Heights
CLIFTON HEIGHTS » Rep. James R. Santora (R-Delaware) invites families to a Family Expo and Fun Fest
6-8 p.m. , Friday, Sept. 14, at Clifton Heights Athletic Field, 217 Springfield Road, Clifton Heights. The free event will include face painting, balloon animal artistry and a moon bounce. Water ice, hot dogs, pretzels and popcorn will be complimentary.
A family-friendly movie will be shown at dusk. While the event is intended to give families a fun, free evening, the drug task force will also be collecting medicines, prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs to fight opioid addiction. By law, needles and epi-pens will not be accepted.
Officers from the Clifton Heights Police Department and firefighters will also be participating.

Anti-human trafficking symposium to take place in Delco
Darby Borough Community Development Corporation (CDC) will present an anti- human trafficking Awareness Symposium, “It’s Happening in Your Community: Removing The Blinders,” 9:30 a.m.2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept.
22 at Edward Bacon Recreation Center, 1022 Ridge Ave., Darby. The event is sponsored by Senator Anthony Williams, State Rep. Joanna McClinton and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. Speakers will include Jamie Pizzi of Villanova Farmworker Legal Aid, Hibibah Smith, co-chair for Delaware County Coalition Against Trafficking, Candice Linehan of Delaware County Women Against Rape and Alexis Krieger of Philadelphia Division of FBI Victim Specialist. HEADstrong Run/ Walk scheduled for Sept. 23
The HEADstrong Foundation will present the 5th Annual Run The Park Challenge Sunday, Sept. 23, rain or shine. This is an event for the entire family, featuring a challenging 5K race that takes runners on a scenic tour of historic Ridley Park and a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. Check-in at Ridley Park Lake, Constitution Terrace, Ridley Park, opens at 7:30 a.m., with a warm-up starting at
8:30 a.m., the run at 9 a.m. and the Fun/Run Walk at
9:15. Proceeds from the event will stay local, supporting the mission of the HEADstrong Foundation, as well as a 16-year-old boy from Broomall who is currently fighting cancer. The event is held annually in memory of HEADstrong founder Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori. Pre-registered

St. George to present ‘Hollywood vs. Faith’ program
St. George Parish, 22 E. Cooke Rd., Glenolden will present “Salt and Light,” a comedy for kids by television star Frank Runyeon at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Oct.22. Runyeon, an Emmy award winning actor of TV and film will also present a oneman performance of “Hollywood vs. Faith,” at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 22 at St. George. The show is an entertaining look behind the curtain at the world of American entertainment that will change the way the audience looks at the media forever. Students can enter safety improvement video contest
Senator McGarrigle (R26) is encouraging local middle and high school students to share their perspectives on improving school safety by participating in the second annual “Talk To Your State Senator” statewide video competition.
The contest, which is sponsored by the Senate of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, is open to Pennsylvania students in grades
6 through 12, including all public school, private school and home school students. Participants are encouraged to submit video entries of no longer than three minutes that highlight ways to make schools safer.
A total of $10,000 in prizes will be awarded through the PA 529 college savings program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Treasury. Prizes will be deposited into a college savings account in each winner’s name. Videos will be judged based on creativity, content and effectiveness of message delivery.
The contest will remain open through December 7,

Dr. Kurt Micili joins Elwyn team
Elwyn, one of the nation’s most-recognized and historical human service providers of behavioral health and developmental disabilities services, recently named Dr. Kurt Miceli, MD, MBA as the organization’s first-ever Chief Medical Officer.
Adding a physician leader to Elwyn’s executive team is a response to the evolving medical needs of the children and adults being served by the organization, and positions Elwyn for growth and strategic development in the future. Dr. Kurt Miceli, MD, MBA, board certified in both psychiatry and internal medicine, will oversee health care services and quality at Elwyn, in addition to managing a health care practice that provides services to those with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.
Prior to joining Elwyn, Dr. Miceli was the CMO for Bancroft and President of Marcroft Medical Associates, during which time he led the founding of a new psychiatric and neurology medical practice, transformed the company’s quality assurance functions, and acted as an executive decision maker for all health care matters. The doctor also worked at Crozer-Chester Medical Center as Medical Director for Crisis Services and Carson Valley Children’s Aid as Medical Director. His first job in the region was at Fairmount Behavioral Health System where he was President of the Medical Staff, a unit Medical Director, and a consultant psychiatrist to Chestnut Hill Hospital. For the past six years, Dr. Miceli has taught Health Care Economics for Villanova University’s M.B.A. program as an adjunct professor. Dr. Miceli and his wife Kaitlin and daughter Anneliese reside in Newtown Square.
