Ray Millard Freeman
Ray Millard Freeman of Ridley Township on September 4, 2018 at age 84.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Bobbie; sons Ray Jr. (Virginia) and Scott (Karen); seven grandchildren; brother Graham (Jean); many other relatives and friends.
Ray was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Hornibrook).
Ray was a long-time active member of Springfield Baptist Church (Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, deacon, et al.); a U.S. Army veteran who always flew the American flag in his front yard; and a Bell Telephone/Verizon employee for 41 years.
A superman among handymen, Ray loved tools and gadgets, and could fix just about anything.
Friends and co-workers recall Ray as a true gentleman who always smiled, was patient, helpful, caring, fun loving and modest.
Ray told very few people about the proudest achievement of his youth: being a member of the John Bartram High School gymnastics team that traveled to the U.S. Naval academy, met and defeated an academy team. (In his mid-50’s, Ray could still spontaneously leap frog a parking meter and vault a railing of an open stairway. He nailed the landing every time.)
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 28th at 10:00 AM at Springfield Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Springfield Baptist Church.
