Fast start paces Notre Dame in Inter-Ac opener

Jess Schneider, Abby D’Anjolell and Mia Leonhardt scored in the first five minutes and Notre Dame rode that early outburst to open its Inter-Ac League season in field hockey with a 5-0 victory over Agnes Irwin.

For D’Anjolell, it was her first varsity goal. Lauren Curran tallied the final two goals. Goalie Paige (two saves) notched the shutout for the Irish (5-0).

Paige DiLullo stopped 10 shots in goal for the Owls.

In other Inter-Ac action: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 2, GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 2 » Gianna Pantaleo and Kathleen Anderson scored in the second half to help the Churchwome­n earn a draw in double overtime. The equalizer came on a penalty corner with 10 seconds left in regulation.

Goalie Caroline Kelly made 10 saves.

PLUMSTEAD CHRISTIAN 2, DELCO CHRISTIAN 1 » Mikayla Schuster had the lone goal for the Knights (0-3) while goalie Rachel Yeung turned back 10 shots.

In nonleague action: ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 3, HILL SCHOOL 1 » Goalie Mary Kate Kearney stopped 20 shots and did not allow a goal in the second half to keep the Patriots

(5-0) undefeated. Keri Daly, Carleigh Conners and Katie LaBella provided the offense with one goal each.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 2, SPRINGFIEL­D 1 » Bianca Caceci tallied a goal for the Cougars. Morgan Becker and Skylar Alcers had goals for Rustin. MERION MERCY 4, STRATH HAVEN0» MM’s Emily Hauck scored twice. Goalie Sara Flynn made 13 saves and Abby Malarkey chipped in with a defensive save for the Panthers (0-3).

Volleyball

Senior Lexie Witmer contribute­d 30 digs to lead Upper Darby to a 3-0 win over Lower Merion in Central League action. The Royals prevailed by set scores of 2510, 25-11, 25-17.

Olivia Dumont (seven kills, one block), Ellie Fisher (six kills) and Gabby McGinn (five kills, six aces) were strong at the net in the 25-11,

25-15, 25-11 victory. GARNET VALLEY 3, HAVERFORD 0 » Emma Rokosky’s 10 kills, seven digs and two aces helped the Jaguars (5-0) top the Fords, 25-15, 25-9, 25-21.

Rachel Cain handed out 30 assists to go with three kills, four digs and one ace. Alanna Hagerty chipped in with seven kills and four digs, while Annie Bechtold had four kills, two digs and one ace. RIDLEY 3, RADNOR 0 » The Green Raiders pulled out the

25-23, 30-28, 25-21 victory thanks to 30 digs from Melanie June, and 13 kills and nine digs from Angela April.

Abbi Herrin (10 kills, three blocks), Shannon Glacken (34 assists) and Madison Vinorvski (six blocks, six digs) also were major contributo­rs for Ridley.

Seniors Izzy (eight kills, four Criscuolo aces), Erica DiCarlo (14 assists, seven aces, four kills) and Sammy Scannapiec­o (18 digs, two kills) led Radnor.

SUN VALLEY 3, SPRINGFIEL­D 0 » Hannah Vickers pounded seven kills to lead the Vanguards to their second win in as many days with a 2512, 26-24, 25-17 triumph over the Cougars.

Emily Gowman collected

16 digs, Maddie Sidley had eight kills and Ashley Dolan eight assists for Springfiel­d.

Girls Tennis

Michelle DiScala and Kathryn Toal pulled out a three-set victory at first doubles to help Cardinal O’Hara remain undefeated with a 3-2 win over Haverford High.

DiScala and Toal defeated June Park and Amy Cunningham, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, to clinch the victory. Anna Marie Degnan (first singles) and Mary Clare Hayden (third singles) were the other winners for the Lions.

Christina O’Hallahan (first singles) and Jessica Au and Tonnie Medford (second doubles) were the winners for the Fords.

In the Inter-Ac League: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 7, AGNES IRWIN 0 » Ashley Kennedy, Ella Walker and Bella Calastri swept the singles in straight sets. GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 5, NOTRE DAME 2 » McKenna Bramlage won at first singles and Grave Rivers and Ce Ce Quirk took third doubles for the Irish.

In nonleague action: UPPER DARBY 6, ACADEMY PARK 1 » Camryn Schultz and Tarana Annann prevailed in singles for the Royals, who won six matches in straight sets.

Rasah Azor triumphed in straight sets for the Knights.

In the Central League: PENNCREST 5, RIDLEY 2 » Jasleem Gill did not lose a game at third singles, and Allison Guenthardt and Lyz Fyfe did the same at first doubles to pace the Lions. Sarah Change (first singles) and Skyler Smith (third singles) also were victories in straight sets.

Sydney Nguyen and Jocelyn Haughey, and Saige Thammavong and Taylor Dath took second and third doubles, respective­ly, for Ridley. LOWER MERION 6, STRATH HAVEN1» Lana Graziani and Elizabeth DeSilva’s 6-0, 3-6,

10-7 win at second doubles was the lone victory for the Panthers.

Water Polo

The Haverford School cruised to a 14-8 triumph over Souderton thanks largely to goalie Jason Chen, who recorded six saves and a steal.

Bram Schork registered eight steals and four drawn ejections, David Gobora (four assists, nine steals) and Matej Sekulic (three steals) had four goals apiece. Ryan LaRocca added five goals and five assists.

Golf

Ryan D’Ariano sank three birdie putts en route to a 1-under par round of 35 to lead Rustin to a 199-285 nonleague victory over Glen Mills. Jossue Paeralto-Martinez carded a 52 for the Bulls.
