Goal-scoring Flood leads Sacred Heart to win

Julie Flood scored two goals and the defense did the rest Saturday as Sacred Heart Academy cruised to a 2-1 victory over Villa Joseph Marie in Catholic Academies field hockey action.

Flood scored twice in the first half, giving her a teamleadin­g 11 goals on the season.

Goalie Gigi Backe registered seven saves for the Lions.

Amanda Heilmann and Lily Flanagan were outstandin­g on defense for Sacred Heart (4-5, 2-5).

Nicky Oxenford tallied the goal for Villa Joe. Goalie Marissa Mongione had seven saves.

In nonleague action:

KENNETT 7, INTERBORO 3 » Miranda Neill scored off a deflection in the first half to give the Bucs a 1-0 advantage.

They had several other scoring chances but were unable to convert until after the Blue Demons netted seven unanswered goals.

RADNOR 6, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0 » Page Lowry tallied four goals, Barb Civitella and Janie Hoysgaard one each to lead the Raiders to victory.

Goalie Rory Harper got the clean sheet. Civitella, Page Lowry, Madison Milous and Bridget Lowry had one assist each.

Wood goalie Kayley Hence recorded 20 saves.

Boys Soccer

Garnet Valley overcame an early two-goal deficit against Chichester and won 4-2 in nonleague play Saturday. Fifteen minutes into regulation, the Jaguars had dug themselves 2-0 hole.

Josh Williams got the Jags on the board in the 20th minute, and Eric Albright found the back of the net to even the score. Ethan Hensinger put GV ahead in the 37th minute.

Michael Scribner added a goal late in regulation to give Garnet some breathing room.

Logan Sullivan scored for Chi and also assisted on Jason Willoughby’s marker in the first half.

RADNOR 5, PENN WOOD 0 » Eliot Hayes and Ben Engstrom both had a goal and an assist. Jake Lee, Seamus Kennedy and Peter Vitale also tallied for the Red Raiders (9-1-1).

Penn Wood goalie Luseni Nnei made two saves. EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 3, PEDDIE SCHOOL 1 » Harrison Malone paced the Churchmen (8-0-1) with a goal and two assists.

Rowan Brumbaugh added a goal and an assist, while goalie Owen O’Neill recorded six saves. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 4, STRATH HAVEN 1 » Simon Bollinger registered the Pones’ lone tally off an assist from Emmet Young.

CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2, CHURCH FARM 0 » Grant Sareyka opened the scoring in the second half off a feed from Logan Cattie accounted Caleb Chambers, then Sareyka set up Jesse Brittain’s goal to ice the game late. Zac O’Brien stopped all seven shots to come his way for the Crusaders.

Girls Soccer

Isabelle Breedveld’s brace powered Radnor to a 6-1 nonleague triumph over St. Hubert.

Sydney Wilson, Keara Seasholtz, Olivia Gusdorff and Avery Ciatto all contribute­d a goal for the Raiders.

Sydney Zimmerman made five stops between the pipes, whilst Kerry Patterson stopped seven shots for O’Hara. EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 1, PENNINGTON SCHOOL 0 » Bella Piselli scored in the second half off a pass from Kendal Ellison. It was one of few opportunit­ies on net for the Churchwome­n (4-4-1), who were outshot, 15-6. EA goalie Allie Bush stopped all 16 shots she faced. CONESTOGA 3, WEST CHESTER EAST 0 » Caitlin Donovan’s two goals paved the way for another victory for the Pioneers (10-1-1).

In the Bicentenni­al League:

CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 3, DELCO CHRISTIAN 3 » Two overtime period couldn’t settle the score between the Crusaders and Knights.

Grace Gormley led the way for TCA with a goal and two helpers. Monet Butler and Erin Guy each pitched in with a goal.
