Guy does Delco — again! Famous TV chef visits Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen and Bar to introduce new menu
CHESTER >> Excitement buzzed through Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen & Bar inside Harrah’s Philadelphia Wednesday night when the famous chef/restauranteur Guy Fieri himself stopped by to meet the media and some lucky local patrons and debut his new menu.
As the first culinary concept in the area by acclaimed chef and New York Times best-selling author Guy Fieri, the signature restaurant rolled out a revamped menu that includes new over-the-top culinary creations such as Chicken Parm-Eroni, Shrimp Salad Po-Boy, A1 Sourdough Melt and Guy’s super crispy chicken tenders. The restaurant will also still feature all of Guy’s classics like the award-winning Bacon Mac-n-Cheese Burger, American Royal Ribs, and all of Guy’s custom chicken wings.
“We’re enjoying every moment of taking Philadelphian’s on a ride to Flavortown and thought the city of Philadelphia was ready for even bigger, out of bounds flavor,” said Fieri, as he strolled the dining room of the restaurant, shaking hands and answering questions. “The new menu at Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen & Bar is off the hook and will deliver guests, including Philadelphia sports fans, a top game day experience.”
The restaurant was closed off for several hours to accommodate invited guests who had a chance to sample new menu items, as well as have a meet-andgreet with Fieri. Guests were also given wooden cutting boards, engraved with the “Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen & Bar” logo, which they could get autographed during their brief meeting with the star chef.
Thomas and Helen Skelley of Boothwyn were among the party guests who got to meet Fieri. Helen, a longtime fan of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” was excited to meet the show’s star. As they waited in line to have their cutting board signed by the famous restauranteur, the couple gave his new menu the thumbs up.
“I give this restaurant seven stars,” Thomas said. “It’s really good.”
Linda Cartzendafner of New Castle, Del., sat admiring the cutting board that Fieri had just autographed for her. She had met him once in Las Vegas, years ago, she said, so she was excited to meet him again. When asked what she talked to him about at the meet-and-greet, the fan replied, “I told him that I really like his cookware. I use one of his 5 ½ gallon pots that weighs about 8 or 9 pounds. When I told him how much I loved it, he laughed and said to keep it as a souvenir, that it may be worth something someday. He’s as funny and down-toearth as he appears on his shows.”
Dave and Mary Thomas of Boothwyn were sitting down, sampling Fieri’s new menu items. They were excited to meet Fieri for their first time on such a special day — it was their 43rd anniversary.
“We’re both fans,” Mary stated. “We were really happy to meet Guy and we both thought he was really nice. This is our favorite place to come for cheeseburgers. They give large portions and it’s consistently delicious.”
Located on the casino floor, Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen & Bar opened its doors in November 2016. Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen & Bar is open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining, offering a menu of casual foods, using locally farmed produce, including an extensive variety of burgers, wings, tacos and small plates for sharing. Additionally, the restaurant offers a diverse list of wine and spirits, a creative collection of specialty cocktails and over 12 local craft beers.
Fieri, the Emmy Awardwinning host of multiple television shows, began his rise on the international food stage back in 2006, after winning the second season of “Food Network Star.”
As a result, he was awarded a six-episode commitment for his own show, “Guy’s Big Bite.” Since that time, Guy has created a thriving culinary empire as the host of top-rated TV shows including the Emmy-nominated “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” “Guy’s Grocery Games,” “Guy’s Family Road Trip,” and most recently, “Guy’s Big Project” and “Guy’s Ranch Kitchen.” In addition, he has opened over 63 restaurants around the world and at sea, from the Las Vegas strip and the Atlantic City boardwalk to South Africa and Dubai. He has also authored six bestselling cookbooks.
Wednesday was the second time that Fieri visited the restaurant’s Chester location. He also held an invitation-only private party to mark the grand opening of the casino restaurant in 2016. At both parties, he met the restaurant’s staff and thanked them for doing “an outstanding job” representing his brand.
“This is my first time meeting Guy Fieri,” gushed Andrea Tincher of Spring City, who said that she regularly watches Fieri’s “Guy’s Grocery Games” show on TV and enjoys eating burgers and cheesesteaks whenever she visits his Philly Kitchen & Bar. “I thought he was just so awesome in person — he’s just a teddy bear!”
Mike and Bernadette Colantonio of Havertown said this was their second time meeting Fieri. They had been at the grand opening party, too.
“Guy Fieri has lots of energy and a great personality,” Mike remarked. “You can tell that he really enjoys meeting his customers. We had a lot of fun talking to him. We really enjoy his food at this restaurant. Everything is delicious and his ribs are out of this world!”
Fieri was welcomed to Harrah’s Philadelphia by Scott Love, who was recently appointed as director of hospitality overseeing the strategic and operational direction of the restaurants, culinary and stewarding departments there. He will work with his team to develop and implement enhancements to ensure that guests continue to enjoy unique dining options coupled with an outstanding service experience.
“Harrah’s Philadelphia offers an exciting food scene and Guy Fieri’s Philly Kitchen & Bar’s newly released menu is a great example of the culinary surprises that conveniently await guests at Harrah’s Philadelphia in Delaware County,” said Love.
