PRAY FOR KINDNESS

My young daughter and I witnessed you kick your dog the other day. She had many questions as to why you would so such a thing to your own dog. One question stands out. She asked me with tears in her eyes, “Do you think maybe he got kicked as a kid?” I said maybe he did. She said, “If he got kicked as a kid, do you think he forgot how much it hurts?” (I had to excuse myself and regain my composure because I was kicked as a kid and do know how much it hurts.) She would like to include you now in her nightly prayers and asked God to help you not kick your dog or anyone or anything ever. We pass your house often and I know the questions will never end — and that’s OK because I don’t want one act of cruelty ever to pass onto her. She wanted to hug your dog and tell him it would be OK now because she knows God will help.

NORWOOD

NAMING NAMES

In the 1950s, the worst thing you could call someone was a communist. In the 2010s, it’s a sex offender. Proving it wasn’t then, and certainly isn’t now, necessary to ruin someone’s life and career. Somewhere (and I think I know where) Joe McCarthy is smiling.

WHAT A MESS

An Upper Darby woman checked with the township before electing a fence in her front yard and she was told it would be OK. Now after she put the fence up, they come back and tell her we made a mistake, you have to take it down. That’s absolutely ridiculous. She went through all the proper channels. She asked all the right people and she was told it would be OK. Maybe the township) should be responsible for this, rather than her.

SUZIE THE SELF-SERVER

When Susan Collins campaigned for Congress, she thought term limits should be imposed on congressmen and senators, and that she would only serve two terms. Guess what? She’s ten years overdue for stepping down! Are you surprised that she hinted for a week that she thought Kavanaugh was questionable, but voted for him anyway? She obviously doesn’t serve the people. She serves her GOP party!

SHAME ON YOU

FENCED IN

What is wrong with these people in Drexel Hill complaining about a little cute white picket fence that really looks adorable? And yet you have these naysayers complaining about it when it looks so pretty. I agree with the owner. I think it’s beautiful and I think you should move now because of this problem. Sorry but that’s just my opinion.

JUDGE NOT

Chris Freind begins his column with a sad story of a man losing his job and not being able to support his family, all because of a spurious accusation of sexual assault. The worst thing that might happen to Brett Kavanaugh is that he will continue with his lifetime appointment as a federal judge. If not being seated on the Supreme Court is such a vicious blow, let’s talk about what Republicans did to Merrick Garland. There were no concerns that Garland had committed sexual assault or was a belligerent drunk. And Garland never said anything to suggest he thought Nixon should have gotten away with Watergate, as Kavanaugh did when he repeatedly said the decision to force Nixon to turn over the Watergate tapes may have been wrongly decided. During his confirmation hearings, Kavanaugh lied under oath about his connections to the Bush detainee program, to warrantless wiretapping, to documents stolen from Democrats, and to the nomination of Judge William Pryor, as well as about his history of heavy drinking. And in his prepared statement, Kavanaugh angrily declared that he is an extreme partisan with a grudge against Democrats. This led former and current supreme court justices to break tradition by speaking out and warning against allowing the court to become overtly political. Republicans are despicable for ramming this nomination through. And Chris Freind is a tool.

LOCK THEM UP

Hey guys, just heard on the news about that terrible limo accident up in New York state. If it’s true that the limo didn’t pass inspection but was still out to be operated on the street by the owner, there should be criminal charges.
