Helen K. Dixon (née Kelly) passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 26, 2018, with her devoted husband Bill by her side, she was 86 years young.

Helen was raised in Upper Darby, PA. She was the daughter of the late Helen M. Kelly and the late Joseph A. Kelly and sister to the late Thomas Kelly. She was the beloved wife of William J. Dixon, Jr. (Bill); stepmother to Mark Dixon, Jill Dixon, and John Dixon (Joni); grandmothe­r to Ian Dixon and Amanda Dixon; and Aunt to Timothy Kelly (Mary), Michael Kelly (Jennifer), Thomas Kelly (Judith), Colleen Trautwein (John), Patricia Azzari (Phil), and their collective 25 children and grandchild­ren.

Helen was a profession­al secretary – working for a Cardiologi­st (NY), Westinghou­se (AZ), Boeing Company (PA), The Franklin Mint (PA), and Delaware Trust Bank (DE). She retired in 1980.

She met Bill in 1965 while working for Boeing, they married in 1979. Bill lovingly referred to Helen as “Tink,” because her brother said, “What a little stinker,” which morphed into tinker, and became Tink.

Helen enjoyed watching tennis, ice skating, and a variety of drama shows/movies with Bill. An avid catalog shopper, she enjoyed collecting figurines of clowns and Disney characters, and loved decorating for all holidays – especially Christmas all year!

Her interests included decorating her yard with flowers for each season, reading, running until sidelined by back surgery, taking care of feral cats (17 at one count), their family of cats and dogs, and birdwatchi­ng from their sunroom. She and Bill loved attending cultural/historical tours, were avid theatre/symphony goers, and enjoyed Ballroom Dancing at the DuPont Country Club.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 12 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3924 Concord Pike, Wilm., DE 19803). Friends may call beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment at Lawncroft Cemetery will follow.
