Rapist gets 4-8 years in state prison in plea deal
MEDIA COURTHOUSE >> A Chester man was sentenced to four to eight years in state prison Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of rape by forcible compulsion and aggravated assault, both felonies of the first degree.
Shaquille Malik Tillmon, 23, was also given seven years of consecutive sex offender state probation and ordered to register as a sex offender for life under the negotiated plea worked out by Assistant District Attorney Christopher Boggs and defense counsel Glen Hoffman.
Tillmon was arrested Dec. 28 for brutally attacking a woman Christmas Eve in Deshong Park in the 900 block of Avenue of the States.
The victim told police she was walking through the park when a man approached her with a knife, grabbed her by the hair, and pulled her into nearby woods. Police said Tillmon then raped and stabbed his victim, who was admitted to CrozerCheser Medical Center for her injuries.
The woman described her assailant as a black man, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall in his mid-20s with a small Afro. She said he was wearing dark clothing with a book bag and riding a bicycle, according to police.
Chester detectives were able to identify Tillmon as a suspect and the victim later identified him as her assailant from a photo array.
Tillmon has been incarcerated at the county prison in Concord since his arrest in lieu of $1 million cash bail. He had also been charged with multiple other offenses, including strangulation, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and reckless endangerment. The remaining charges were withdrawn pursuant to the plea agreement accepted by Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge Barry Dozor.
Neither Tillmon nor his attorney had anything further to say to the court Thursday.
In addition to prison time and probation, Tillmon was ordered to submit a DNA sample to state police, comply with all recommendations of a psychosexual evaluation and stay away from the victim. He is not eligible for early release.
