Sirleaf comes up big to lift Upper Darby past Ridley

Junior striker Sheikh Sirleaf finished a feed from senior striker Mel Haynes with 2:20 left in regulation to give Upper Darby a 3-2 victory over Ridley in Central League boys soccer action Friday.

Midfielder Alex Cueva gave the Royals a 1-0 lead

10 minutes into the contest when he converted a pass from Sirleaf. Sophomore Kevin Zea scored in his varsity debut when he redirected a cross from Lionel Kone. Sophomore goalie made four saves for his first varsity win.

In the Inter-Ac League: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 1, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL

0>> Harrison Malone found the back of the net on a free kick in the first half to keep the Churchmen (12-0-1, 4-00) unbeaten. Owen Elliott posted the clean sheet with three saves.

In nonleague action: DELCO CHRISTIAN 1, LANCASTER COUNTY CHRISTIAN

0>> Micah Metricardi’s goal in the second half off an assist from Cole Levis helped the Knights kickoff homecoming weekend with a win. Josiah Bronkema made three saves to record the shutout.

Girls Soccer

Anna Salvucci collected one goal and one assist to lift Episcopal Academy to a 3-1 Inter-Ac League win over Germantown Academy.

Anna Salvucci fed Hallie Moran’s goal for what proved to be the winner with 9:36 left in the first half and headed home a pass from Ali McHugh to give the Churchwome­n a 3-0 cushion with 5:40 remaining in the half. Devon Whitaker tallied the first goal with an assist from Laila Payton.

Allie Bush made one save in goal for EA.

In the Catholic League: ARCHBISHOP RYAN 5, CARDINAL O’HARA 1 >> Zyianna Wilmer scored to get the Lions within 2-1 at halftime, but the Raiders scored three times in the second half to pull away.

Field Hockey

Notre Dame keeps rolling along.

Mia Leonhardt scored twice in the first half, once off an assist from Lindsey Barnes and then off a pass from Lauren Curran as the Irish remained unbeaten with a 3-0 victory over Agnes Irwin.

Jess Schneider also scored, while goalie Paige Kleft made one save for Notre Dame (13-0-1). Paige DiLullo stopped 14 shots for the Owls. GERMANTOWN ACADEMY

3, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 1 >> Maddie Rehak had the only goal for the Churchwome­n

(7-2-2, 3-2-1). Goalie Caroline Kelly made 22 saves.

In the Central League: RIDLEY 3, UPPER DARBY 0 >> Julia Meely scored with

7:35 left in the first half to stake the Green Raiders to a 1-0 lead. Corrinne Strath and Meghan Lynch added insurance goals in the second half. Megan Frame posted the shutout with nine saves.

Mariama Keita turned back four shots for the Royals.

In the Catholic Academies League:

VILLA MARIA 5, SACRED HEART 2 >> First-half goals from Hannah Miller, Ryan Hickey and Magnolia Powers powered the Hurricanes past the Lions.

Mary Lauren Franz tallied both goals for Sacred Heart (6-11, 3-8). Julia Flood had the assist on both goals, while goalie Gigi Backe made 15 saves.

In nonleague action: SPRINGFIEL­D 3, COAGESVILL­E 1 >> A pair of goals from Arden Turner and one from Eliza Donaldson lifted the Cougars over the Red Raiders. PHOENIXVIL­LE 10, INTERBORO 0 >> Cassidy Stevens scored four times and handed out one assist to pace the Phantoms. CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 0 >> In a battle of Patriots, C.B. East used one goal in the first half and two in the second to get past Carroll (11-3, 6-0 Catholic League).

Mary Kate Kearney made seven saves in goal for Carroll.

The Bucs made seven defensive saves, three by Sophia Harley, two from Sam Shemeluk and one each by Maddy Bonner and Emma Nieves. Goalie Gab MacDonald turned back seven shots.

Volleyball

Lexi Shreiner, Sam McGarvey and Emma Jardine shined on senior day as Notre Dame blanked Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 3-0, to remain undefeated in the InterAc League and extend its winning games.

Shreiner and McGarvey combined for nine aces and

12 kills. Jardine dished out

15 assists in the 25-13, 2514, 25-13 win for the Irish

(11-1, 5-0).

In nonleague action: SUN VALLEY 3, RADNOR 0 >> Lucy Criscuolo and Grayce Henderson had five kills each for the Raiders, but it wasn’t enough as the Vanguars won 25-13, 25-10, 2519.

Izzy Criscuolo added four kills. Erica DiCarlo had 16 assists and Sammy Scannapiec­o recorded 11 digs. No details were reported for Sun Valley.

Girls Tennis

Episcopal Academy did not lose a game in a 7-0 nonleague victory over Cardinal O’Hara. The win made the Churchwome­n 11-0.

In nonleague action: SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 7, NOTRE DAME 0 >> Ellen Lavin and Ellie Graham and Ce Ce Quirk and Ginna DeCarlo took their respective matches to three sets for the Irish.

Lavin and Graham fell to Lexi Baal and Olivia Schwartz 6-7, 6-1, 10-3 at first doubles. Quirk and DeCarlo dropped a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 decision to Emily Goldberg and Colby Petrons at third doubles.

Water Polo

streak to 11

Ryan LaRocca collected five goals, two assists, two steals, two blocks and one drawn ejection to help the Haverford School to an 11-8 Inter-Ac League victory over Germantown Academy.

Matej Sekulic added four goals, two assists, two drawn ejections, one steal and one block. Freshman Bram Schork led the defense with four steals.
