Sir­leaf comes up big to lift Up­per Darby past Ri­d­ley

Ju­nior striker Sheikh Sir­leaf fin­ished a feed from se­nior striker Mel Haynes with 2:20 left in reg­u­la­tion to give Up­per Darby a 3-2 vic­tory over Ri­d­ley in Cen­tral League boys soc­cer ac­tion Fri­day.

Mid­fielder Alex Cueva gave the Roy­als a 1-0 lead

10 min­utes into the con­test when he con­verted a pass from Sir­leaf. Sopho­more Kevin Zea scored in his var­sity de­but when he redi­rected a cross from Lionel Kone. Sopho­more goalie made four saves for his first var­sity win.


0>> Har­ri­son Mal­one found the back of the net on a free kick in the first half to keep the Church­men (12-0-1, 4-00) un­beaten. Owen El­liott posted the clean sheet with three saves.


0>> Micah Met­ri­cardi’s goal in the sec­ond half off an as­sist from Cole Le­vis helped the Knights kick­off home­com­ing week­end with a win. Josiah Bronkema made three saves to record the shutout.

Girls Soc­cer

Anna Salvucci col­lected one goal and one as­sist to lift Epis­co­pal Academy to a 3-1 In­ter-Ac League win over Ger­man­town Academy.

Anna Salvucci fed Hal­lie Moran’s goal for what proved to be the win­ner with 9:36 left in the first half and headed home a pass from Ali McHugh to give the Church­women a 3-0 cush­ion with 5:40 re­main­ing in the half. Devon Whi­taker tal­lied the first goal with an as­sist from Laila Pay­ton.

Al­lie Bush made one save in goal for EA.

In the Catholic League: ARCH­BISHOP RYAN 5, CAR­DI­NAL O’HARA 1 >> Zyianna Wilmer scored to get the Lions within 2-1 at half­time, but the Raiders scored three times in the sec­ond half to pull away.

Field Hockey

Notre Dame keeps rolling along.

Mia Leon­hardt scored twice in the first half, once off an as­sist from Lind­sey Barnes and then off a pass from Lau­ren Cur­ran as the Ir­ish re­mained un­beaten with a 3-0 vic­tory over Agnes Ir­win.

Jess Sch­nei­der also scored, while goalie Paige Kleft made one save for Notre Dame (13-0-1). Paige DiLullo stopped 14 shots for the Owls. GER­MAN­TOWN ACADEMY

3, EPIS­CO­PAL ACADEMY 1 >> Mad­die Re­hak had the only goal for the Church­women

(7-2-2, 3-2-1). Goalie Caro­line Kelly made 22 saves.

In the Cen­tral League: RI­D­LEY 3, UP­PER DARBY 0 >> Ju­lia Meely scored with

7:35 left in the first half to stake the Green Raiders to a 1-0 lead. Cor­rinne Strath and Meghan Lynch added in­sur­ance goals in the sec­ond half. Me­gan Frame posted the shutout with nine saves.

Mariama Keita turned back four shots for the Roy­als.

In the Catholic Acad­e­mies League:

VILLA MARIA 5, SA­CRED HEART 2 >> First-half goals from Han­nah Miller, Ryan Hickey and Mag­no­lia Pow­ers pow­ered the Hur­ri­canes past the Lions.

Mary Lau­ren Franz tal­lied both goals for Sa­cred Heart (6-11, 3-8). Ju­lia Flood had the as­sist on both goals, while goalie Gigi Backe made 15 saves.

In non­league ac­tion: SPRING­FIELD 3, COAGESVILLE 1 >> A pair of goals from Arden Turner and one from El­iza Don­ald­son lifted the Cougars over the Red Raiders. PHOENIXVILLE 10, IN­TER­BORO 0 >> Cas­sidy Stevens scored four times and handed out one as­sist to pace the Phan­toms. CEN­TRAL BUCKS EAST 3, ARCH­BISHOP CAR­ROLL 0 >> In a bat­tle of Pa­tri­ots, C.B. East used one goal in the first half and two in the sec­ond to get past Car­roll (11-3, 6-0 Catholic League).

Mary Kate Kear­ney made seven saves in goal for Car­roll.

The Bucs made seven de­fen­sive saves, three by Sophia Har­ley, two from Sam Shemeluk and one each by Maddy Bon­ner and Emma Nieves. Goalie Gab Mac­Don­ald turned back seven shots.


Lexi Shreiner, Sam McGar­vey and Emma Jar­dine shined on se­nior day as Notre Dame blanked Spring­side Ch­est­nut Hill Academy, 3-0, to re­main un­de­feated in the In­terAc League and ex­tend its win­ning games.

Shreiner and McGar­vey com­bined for nine aces and

12 kills. Jar­dine dished out

15 as­sists in the 25-13, 2514, 25-13 win for the Ir­ish

(11-1, 5-0).

In non­league ac­tion: SUN VAL­LEY 3, RADNOR 0 >> Lucy Criscuolo and Grayce Hen­der­son had five kills each for the Raiders, but it wasn’t enough as the Van­guars won 25-13, 25-10, 2519.

Izzy Criscuolo added four kills. Erica DiCarlo had 16 as­sists and Sammy Scan­na­pieco recorded 11 digs. No de­tails were re­ported for Sun Val­ley.

Girls Ten­nis

Epis­co­pal Academy did not lose a game in a 7-0 non­league vic­tory over Car­di­nal O’Hara. The win made the Church­women 11-0.

In non­league ac­tion: SPRING­SIDE CH­EST­NUT HILL 7, NOTRE DAME 0 >> Ellen Lavin and El­lie Gra­ham and Ce Ce Quirk and Ginna DeCarlo took their re­spec­tive matches to three sets for the Ir­ish.

Lavin and Gra­ham fell to Lexi Baal and Olivia Schwartz 6-7, 6-1, 10-3 at first dou­bles. Quirk and DeCarlo dropped a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 de­ci­sion to Emily Gold­berg and Colby Petrons at third dou­bles.

Ryan LaRocca col­lected five goals, two as­sists, two steals, two blocks and one drawn ejec­tion to help the Haver­ford School to an 11-8 In­ter-Ac League vic­tory over Ger­man­town Academy.

Matej Sekulic added four goals, two as­sists, two drawn ejec­tions, one steal and one block. Fresh­man Bram Schork led the de­fense with four steals.
