ANGELS IN MEDIA

I am a grandmother who tripped and fell on State Street in Media on Oct. 2. I smacked my face right into the concrete, suffered cuts and bruises, a broken nose and concussion. My face was bleeding profusely. A lovely woman stopped and gave me napkins from her bag to staunch the flow of blood and stayed until help arrived — she was encouraging and concerned and her kindness is much appreciated. I also whacked both knees and they were so painful that when someone brought a chair for me to pull myself up, that was impossible. I was dead weight. Suddenly from behind, unseen, a strong pair of arms hooked under my shoulders, lifted me off the ground and got me right in the chair. He knew all the proper techniques for lifting a patient. He pulled his truck over, helped me, and left all within one minute and never said a word. He wanted no recognition, no praise. He only wanted to do the right thing and help. All I can say about that young man is he was well raised and he was an angel that day.

GET A MAP

I’m reading the article in today’s paper about the fire that was in Havertown and it’s marked Haverford. I gather Phil does not know the difference between Haverford and Havertown. Maybe he should have written Haverford Township after Haverford because Havertown is totally different. Just in case you didn’t know. Havertown is a neighborhood in Haverford Township — Ed.

READING INCOMPREHENSION

I can’t believe that some moron wrote in about the political ads on the front page who actually thought they were endorsements by the Times. This person needs to stick to television because they obviously have a hard time comprehending the written word. M.F. FROM WESTBROOK DRIVE

GARNET VALLEY IS SPECIAL

Yes I read in the Delaware County Daily Times that Garnet Valley is now handing out no class ranks. Well, isn’t that just wonderful? Garnet Valley is now giving out participation trophies to the students who graduate. I certainly hope that if any member of the Garnet Valley School Board needs a physician, a dentist, a doctor or a surgeon that you get the fruits of your reward. I hope you get the slacker, the lazy student the one who got the participation trophy for going to school.

OH, ALEC

If Alec Baldwin had moved to Canada 18 years ago like he promised us, he wouldn’t be in this mess now.

BLOOD AT THE BORDER

America has a couple of very bad days coming up with the invasion force coming up through Central America and Mexico toward our country. This force with women and children must have breached our borders illegally, undocumented and illegal. Now the president has sent multiple troops down there to assist the border guards but here’s the dilemma: They’re going to have women and children with them and undoubtedly they’ll be on the front page of every paper there is. Now do the troops and the border guards choose sort of passive resistance to them, such as tear gas or pepper spray? Yet these people persist and are trying to force their way through. Do they become more aggressive and use batons, tasers or whatever? What is the final allowable use of force? Of course you know every paper is going to show you a crying mother and a crying baby and oh my God some blood somewhere and then every country in the world are going to say how dare you do this. Maybe we should take a page out of the book of the Chinese and run tanks up and down the streets.

DISGRACE IN THE CEMETERY

I just came from church and rode out past to go to cemetery to visit some of our family members for their birthdays but we can’t get up in the cemetery because there are so many weeds. They cut it off in the front to make you think that the cemetery is clean but it’s not and it’s a total disgrace. We can’t even get in there to go visit our deceased family members that we love so dearly. Somebody needs to see about cleaning up the cemetery. Truly I would appreciate it.
