Veterans honored at Primos Elementary
UPPER DARBY >> Students at Primos Elementary School honored their family members who have served for our country ahead of Veterans Day on Sunday.
The school cafeteria on Friday morning was filled with students in grades kindergarten through second as seven of their closest family members were celebrated for the contributions they made in each of the four branches of the armed forces.
Students introduced their loved ones, which included parents, aunts and grandparents, who then gave a brief overview of the service they gave to the country and a small message to encourage the young patriots.
“Keep all of the people that are all over the world in your minds as you go forward,” said James Hoback in a brief message to the students.
Seven veterans were thanked by school officials with a special certificate in honor of their service.
Students also celebrated the holiday by planting over 100 flags on the front lawn of the schools. The flags are purchased for $1 each and fixed with a tag bearing the name of a family member who has served. Any profit from the sale of the flags would be donated to a yet-to-be-determined organization.
Service members were honored at a morning assembly and at an afternoon assembly, the latter for grades three through five.
