Host Neumann rallies to win its tournament

A layup by Minika Glenn and a made jumper from Mariah Maciejewsk­i 50 seconds later enabled Neumann to win its Tip-Off Tournament with a 69-66 victory over Western New England Sunday.

Minika’s bucket with

1:20 left broke a 62-all deadlock. Maciejewsk­i basket with 30 seconds remaining gave the Knights a four-point cushion that Western New England could not overcome.

Glenn led all scorers with 23 points. She also had eight rebounds and four assists to earn alltournam­ent honors. Maciejewsk­i finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds and Nafisa Saunders chipped in with 13 points and six assist, and was named tournament MVP. HAVERFORD 59, ELIZABETHT­OWN 53 >> Anna-Sophia Capizzi tossed in a career-high 16 points and Megan Furch added a career-best 14 to pace the Fords to victory in the final day of the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic at Franklin & Marshall.

Macy Goldbach added

11 points, six rebounds and four assists to earn tournament MVP honors. Capizzi also was named to the all-tournament team.

MARIST 74, TEMPLE 68 >> A 13-4 run by the Red Foxes spoiled a career day by Mia Davis. The run turned a 26-21 deficit into a 34-30 lead Marist would not relinquish.

Davis scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.

Men’s Basketball

It was better late than never for Neumann.

The Knights went on an 11-point run late late in the second half to rally for an 82-77 victory over York in the consolatio­n game of the Stockton Classic.

Neumann trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half and was down, 71-67, with 5:35 to play when it went on its 11-0 run. Raquan Brown-Johnson hit two free throws with 4:05 left to put Neumann up for good.

Brown-Johnson paced the Knights (3-3) with

29 points, six rebounds and six assists. Aaron Johnson-Chavis added

22 points and eight rebounds.

WEBSTER 79, EASTERN 74 >> The Gorloks scored the first six points in overtime, including four from sophomore forward Nigel Wilcox, and never looked back to take the title at the Maryville (Tenn.) College Classic.

Josh Johnson led the winners with 23 points. Enrique Tankins added

21 points and 13 rebounds and Wilcox finished with 13 points and

15 boards. Darius Washington paced the Eagles with

23 points and eight rebounds. Victor Pena pitched in with 16 points and eight boards.
