Glossy new supermarket Lidl set to open Ridley location
RIDLEY TOWNSHIP >> Lidl, recently ranked a top 3 U.S. supermarket by Food & Wine Magazine, announced it will open its store in the Folsom section of Ridley Township on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Lidl’s new store, 420 MacDade Blvd., will open at 8 a.m. The new store, which will be Lidl’s first in Pennsylvania, builds on Lidl’s promise to deliver shoppers convenient access to high quality foods at the lowest possible prices.
Customers will be able to take advantage of getthem-while-you-can grand opening special offers at the new store. The first 100 customers will be greeted by store manager Ken Abernathy and presented with a wooden coin redeemable for a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each. Shoppers can also sample an array of Lidl’s products and get a complimentary Lidl reusable bag while supplies last. Help to trim Swedish Christmas tree at Drexel Hill’s Swedish Cabin
The community is invited to celebrate the holidays Swedish Style at the TrimA-Swedish-Christmas-Tree Party at the historic Swedish Cabin, 9 Creek Rd., Drexel Hill, 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 2. Admission is free but donations are always appreciated.
The Friends of the Swedish Cabin will provide Swedish holiday food from their Julbord, beverages, decorations, and Swedish Christmas music. Attendees can help to decorate the Christmas tree, Julgran, with apples, heart baskets and straw ornaments, plus tour the cabin, shop for unusual gifts at the Butiken, and warm themselves by a roaring fire, while toasting marshmallows.
Community invited to celebrate grand reopening of Edible Arrangements
Edible Arrangements®, the world’s largest franchisor of stores offering freshcut fruit arrangements and other gifts, announces the relocation of its store, to
300 W. State St., Media. With a grand re-opening planned for this Saturday, Nov. 24, the shop will offer an array of custom cut fruit arrangements, chocolate Dipped Fruit boxes, “grab & go” treats, and fresh fruit smoothies. All products are freshly prepared by specially trained “Fruit Experts.” They can either be picked up in the store or hand delivered in refrigerated trucks.

Registration underway for New Choices program
Delaware County Community College’s New Choices Career Development program features mock interview sessions as part of the career development curriculum. With newly created résumés, students have an opportunity to improve their interviewing skills by practicing oneon-one with business professionals.
New Choices is a free, six-week career exploration and job re-entry program that provides individual and group support, career planning workshops, employer contacts, networking opportunities, résumé writing, interviewing techniques, as well as basic computer skills. The New Choices goal is to assist participants in reaching economic independence by finding and retaining employment and/or training.

Holy Cross to hold Christmas craft fair
Holy Cross Parish will hold its annual Christmas Craft Fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec.1 at Holy Cross Parish Hall on Bishop Ave. in Springfield. Sample homemade treats, view team hats and scarves, unusual jewelry, candles, indoor/outdoor decorations and other unique gifts made by talented, local crafters. Lunch and pretzels will also be available.
Free Laughter Yoga offered to community
The community is invited to participate in free laughter yoga twice each week. Instructor Alexa Drubay offers laughter yoga from 2-3 p.m. Sundays at the Unitarian Universal Church in Media and on Mondays from
5:45-6:45 p.m. at the Media Borough Community Center’s Banquet Room.
For over four years, Drubay has donated over
550 hours bringing laughter yoga to the community. The complimentary biweekly sessions help to reduce stress, anxiety, depression and boost immunities and mood. It is often especially beneficial during the holiday season when many people are missing their loved ones. Laughter brings people together and fosters connection and social well being.

Prospect UM Church holds Christmas Bazaar, free lunches on Thursdays
The Prospect United Methodist Church, 800 Lincoln Avenue, Prospect Park, will hold its Christmas Bazaar 9 a.m.t o 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. The bazaar will feature a white elephant table, a cake bake table, attic treasures, gently used jewelry and much more. The kitchen will offer soup, hot dogs, snacks and coffee. Media Arts Council presents annual holiday art and gift show
The lights, the color and sparkle of the season extend from the charming storefront shops on Media’s East State Street to West State Street, along with the MAC Gallery. Local artists, including award-winning juried MAC Gallery Artists and their invited artist guests, join together to display and sell original artworks from Dec. 7-Jan. 6. . Paintings and photographs, along with prints, unique greeting cards, collectibles, and eclectic specialty items, will be featured at the seasonal shopping extravaganza. The shopping event opens with a free, festive reception 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at MAC Gallery, 609-B West State St., Media.
