The evening began with a Mass in the Carroll Auditorium celebrated by Father Mike Speziale and concelebrated by Father Paul Convery ‘70 and Father Shaun Mahoney ‘77, accompanied by a student choir.
More than 400 guests were in attendance for the reception and induction ceremony. Many former Carroll football team members were also in attendance and greeted coach Joe McNichol when he arrived.
Joe DeBarberie ‘73 was the emcee for the evening.
“In honoring our inductees tonight, we get an idea of the greatness of our alma mater. These inductees are Carroll; they are us,” he said.
“Tonight’s inductees are an amazing group of individuals who are reflective of everything that is good about Carroll,” Carroll President Francis E. Fox ‘77 added.
Fox introduced 2017 Hall of Fame inductee Barry Kirsch to present the Barry Kirsch Scholarship for Distinguished Service award to Maria Montanez ‘19.
Tom Kincade ‘77 spoke on behalf of McNichol, whose family was also in attendance, while Diane Zwaan ‘79 spoke on behalf of her late husband, Brian, and the Zwaan Family. Coach Karen Geary, 1968 field hockey coach, traveled from South Carolina to be in attendance.
“It was a very special and memorable night for alumni, families and friends of Carroll,” said Nora McGeever ‘11, Carroll’s alumni relations manager. “Many of the attendees commented on how they had not been back to Carroll in many years and how nice it was to reconnect and reminisce on their very fond memories from their time at Carroll.”
