LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the Times:

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to invite the public to join the Sports Legends of Delaware County (SLDC) museum and the Delaware County Baseball League as our guest at the grand opening of the Winter Wool and the Summer Game Exhibit.

This exhibit features 22 vintage individual jerseys representing Delaware County baseball teams from the ‘30s, ‘40s, ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. The fabrics of the jerseys on display are either 100 percent wool flannel or a blend of wool and cotton. The idea of playing in such uniforms seems unthinkable today: but play they did and many of those players will be on hand to tell you what it was like.

It would be our honor to have you in attendance at our open house to be held Dec. 8, 2018 at the Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum located at 301 Iven Avenue Wayne, Pa. 19087. The hours will be from

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free. Starting at

11:15 there be an optional

10-minute video presented in the museum’s auditorium highlighting Delco players from the past 100-plus years. Also just in time for holiday gift-buying season the SLDC Museum’s 2019 Sports Calendar will be available as well as knitted wool specialty items created exclusively for this event.
