Local Life: Tree lightings, holiday events on tap

Ridley Township will hold its annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, on the grounds of the municipal building, MacDade Boulevard and Morton Avenue. Rain date is Dec. 5. Entertainm­ent will precede Santa’s arrival at 6:45. Hot chocolate and soft pretzels will be served and there will be time for visits with Santa Claus. Attendees are asked to consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy for donation to a child in need.

Prospect Park Tree Lighting

The Prospect Park Annual Tree Lighting, sponsored by the Prospect Park Beautifica­tion Committee, will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at Park Square, located between 9th and 10th Avenues. Santa will be paying a visit to the tree lighting. Canned goods will be collected for the Loaves and fishes Food Pantry. Music will be provided by the Interboro High School Select Choir and the Interboro High School Band. The rain date for the tree lighting will be 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The Prospect Park Beautifica­tion Committee will once again be sponsoring Luminaries in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 22 at dusk. Everyone is invited to come and see the Park come alive with beautiful candle-lit pathways. The rain date is Sunday, Dec. 23.

All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast with Santa

Media Lions hold allyou-can-eat breakfast with Santa The Media Lions Club will hold its annual all-you-can-eat Breakfast with Santa 8:30 a.m. to

12 noon Saturday, Dec. 8 at VFW Post 3460, 11 Hilltop Ave., Media. Admission is a

$10 donation for adults, $5 for children under ten and compliment­ary for children under three-years-old. The event will include food, music and surprises for the kids. For more informatio­n, call 610-566-9980.

Prospect UM Church Bazaar

Prospect UM Church holds Christmas Bazaar, free lunches on Thursdays The Prospect United Methodist Church, 800 Lincoln Avenue, Prospect Park, will hold its Christmas Bazaar 9 a.m.t o 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. The bazaar will feature a white elephant table, a cake bake table, attic treasures, gently used jewelry and much more. The kitchen will offer soup, hot dogs, snacks and coffee. Free soup, snacks, desserts, coffee and tea will be offered from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays. Everyone is welcome to stop by and eat lunch with others.

Santa and the Grinch

United Methodist Church, 600 E. Dutton Mill Rd., Brookhaven, will present its annual visit with Santa and the Grinch 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the church. The event will feature a kids’ craft table and a lunch for $2 consisting of a hot dog, chips and soda. Homemade cookies will also be for sale and Grandmom’s Attic will feature gently used treasures. Breakfast with Santa at Holy Spirit

Families are invited to bring their little ones to eat breakfast with Santa Claus 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 8 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 2545 Franklyn Ave., Secane. Admission is $5 and children, ages 2 and under, are free.
