Stovall helps CCSA to upset of Strath Haven

Donte Stovall’s steely nerves at the line turned into one of Chester Charter School for the Arts’ biggest wins as a program Saturday.

Stovall was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final two minutes to tally a team-high 10 points and lead CCSA to a 49-44 win over Strath Haven at the Media Tip-Off.

It’s the program’s first win over a Central League foe in its second season.

Stovall also hit two 3-pointers. Jamihy Evans scored nine points, Bruce Rogers added eight and Tyler Howard paired seven points with 10 rebounds for the Sabers (1-1).

Luke Edwards led Strath Haven with 14 points, and Brady Mutz added 13.

Also at the Media Tip-Off: ACADEMY PARK 57, PENNCREST 52 >> Naseim Harley scored 17 points, including nine in the fourth quarter to lead the Knights to a 25-9 edge in the final frame for a comeback win.

Derrick Northern scored all nine of his points in the fourth, and Tyriq Marrero added 12 points for AP.

It took all of that to blunt the stellar game that Malcolm Williams had, going off for 34 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions (1-1).

At the Fred Pickett Classic: GLASGOW 61, CHESTER 54 >> Karell Watkins paired 25 points with 20 rebounds, and Rahmaad DeJarnette tallied 15 points, but the Clippers’ offense got off to a sluggish start.

At the McBride Classic: HAVERFORD SCHOOL 71, ST. PAUL’S 53 >> Christian Ray followed up a 31-point outing late Friday with 20 points Saturday as the Fords downed the visitors from Maryland to claim the title. Ray was named tournament MVP.

Gavin Burke sunk four

3-pointers to notch 21 points and land on the all-tournament team. Jameel Brown and MJ Atkins added nine points each, and Tyler Seward added eight.

At the Vanguard Tip-Off: SUN VALLEY 60, INTERBORO

40>> The afternoon following a double-OT win over Harriton, Marvin Freeman picked up the slack with

20 points to lead the Vanguards (2-0). Isaac Kennon scored 13 points on to earn earn tournament MVP.

Jared Delliprisc­oli led Interboro with 13 points, and Terrance Hall added 11 points for the Bucs (1-1).

At the Delco Christian Invitation­al:

NORFOLK CHRISTIAN 69, CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 46 >> Jourdan Greene scored 16 points and Tehron Phillips added 12, but the Crusaders

(1-1) fell in the final.

DELCO CHRISTIAN 55, ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN 36 >> Obinna Nwobodo tallied a careerhigh 25 points to go with six rebounds, and Jackson Piotrowski paired 13 points with eight boards as the Knights (1-1) recovered from a double-OT loss to claim the consolatio­n game.

At the Radnor Tip-Off: HENDERSON 51, RADNOR 48 >> Lew Robinson scored a game-high 21 points, and Jack D’Entremont added 13 points, but the Raiders slipped in their opener.

At the Triangle Club TipOff:

WISSAHICKO­N 55, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 53 >> EA led by eight at the half and held a slim lead entering the fourth quarter but couldn’t hang on down the stretch. Andrew Alikakos led the Churchmen with 14 points, Alex Capitano scored 13 and Matt Dade added a dozen points.

In nonleague action: ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 75, HIGH SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE 46 >> Anquan Hill scored a game-high 18 points, Amiri Stewart added

16 and Cole Burkitt poured in a career-high 15 points for the Patriots (2-0).

RIDLEY 58, GLEN MILLS 42 >> Malachi Williams hit three

3-pointers to tally 20 points, and Enoch Clark added 11 for the Green Raiders in their opener.

Aaron Thompson led Glen Mills (0-2) with 13 points.

POTTSGROVE­75,CHICHESTER

44 >> Calvin Church notched his second career-high in as many nights with 23 points to go with nine rebounds and five steals, but the Eagles

(0-2) fell short. Josh Hankins added 10 points.
