Don’t forget needs of citizens of Chester
To the Times:
This is a copy of a letter sent to state Rep. Brian Kirkland, D-159 of Chester:
It has been my pleasure this morning speaking with your constituents.
I am a community leader and advocate speaking on behalf of the disenfranchised community in the City of Chester, Pa. The struggle of past decades without factory work such as Scott Paper, Westinghouse to name a few has leathered a hardworking community who once thrived.
Some of this population remain within the city limits, the elderly, the unskilled, the unemployed. As an advocate for this population, I feel it is my duty as a citizen and taxpayer in the City of Chester to remind you, their state representative, that you were voted in office to be an agent of change. Affordable, low-income housing needs to continue to have funding. Federal funding provides a ripple effect on society in the form of health care, social reform and a sense of community.
Let me remind you that this office represents people who are counting on the person they elected. Additionally, one million lower-income households reside in private rental units. Chester citizens are not merely relying on a handout. Citizens such as seniors, behavioral health, and the unemployed will continue to thrive with funding.
I look forward to your response and will continue to speak on behalf of the citizens of Chester, Pa. Judith Cassidy R.N. BSN
