Bonner & Prendergast’s Gannon Catholic League bowling MVP once again
For the second straight year, Maddie Gannon reigns supreme over the Catholic League. Maddie Gannon completed a second straight MVP season with a 184 high game and 538 series to lead Bonner & Prendergast to a 4-0 win over Conwell-Egan in girls bowling action Thursday.
Jayla Gary tossed a 160 for the Pandas.
Boys Bowling
Jason Ladley had the high game of 223, but Bonner & Prendergast fell to ConwellEgan, 3-1.
Jake Hall rolled a 209 game and 569 series, and Kevin Williams added a 209 high game.
Wrestling
Austin Filippone’s pin at 160 took just 19 seconds, the fastest of 10 wins by fall for Garnet Valley in a 78-6 triumph over Belmont charter.
Austin Sorokaynch (195), Joe Morrone (220), Griffin Hollingsworth (120) and Gavin Hollingsworth (138) all recorded their wins in the first period.
Girls Swimming
Claire McBlain won the 200 and 500 freestyle to pilot Bonner & Prendergast to a 78-75 win over Archbishop Carroll. McBlain also anchored the winning 200 free relay with Madeline Reavey, Hailey Bierling and Hannah Bierling.
Carroll won the majority of the individual events. Victoria Patota claimed the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Maggie Wilson sprinted to wins in the 50 free and 100 backstroke. Schuyler Gock claimed the 100 free, and Kacey Marie Berardinelli won the 100 breaststroke for Carroll.
Boys Swimming
Arvin Sequeira was fastest in the 200 free and 100 breast, and Master Jones won the 200 IM and 100 free to pace Bonner & Prendergast’s 65-43 win over Archbishop Carroll.
Jeffrey Travers won the
50 free, and Joshua Bryan claimed the 500 free.
Jack Goehringer won the
100 fly for Carroll.
Girls Basketball
Katie Anderson scored her 1,000 career point for Agnes Irwin School in a 65-29 InterAc League loss to Academy of Notre Dame.
Anderson, a junior guard, hit a 3-pointer as time expired in the fourth quarter to reach the milestone. A varsity member since eighth grade, Anderson led all scorers with 20 points, including 10 in the final period. She is the third player in Agnes Irwin history to score 1,000.
Maggie Pina paced the Irish with 19 points. Emma Kichula and Sophia Andrisani added eight apiece.
In the Del Val League: ACADEMY PARK 62, CHESTER

14 points and LaShay Jackson added 12 for the Knights.
Shay’moni DeShields paced the Clippers with 13 points and Monique Colbert added 11.

In nonleague action: GLOUCESTER CATHOLIC 55, CARDINAL O’HARA 41 >> Sydni Scott dropped in 13 points and Kerry Patterson followed close behind with 12, but that wasn’t enough for the Lions, who were outscored 30-17 after halftime.
