EAST LANSDOWNE » A

22-year-old Philadelphia man has been charged with criminal attempted homicide and related offense in the Jan. 30 stabbing of a

39-year-old mother of four children.

Andre Scott, of the 1000 block of South 58th Street, has been incarcerated at the county prison since his Feb. 9 arrest at his girlfriend’s home in Glenolden, police said. He is being held in lieu of posting $500,000 cash bail, according to online court records.

The victim’s 12-year-old son witnessed the attack on his mother. She suffered three wounds to her stomach and back and underwent emergency surgery at Penn Presbyterian Hospital, according to the probable cause affidavit for Scott’s arrest.

“Thankfully, she survived the assault and is expected to make a full recovery,” East Lansdowne police posted on social media announcing Scott’s arrest.

It was about 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 30 that East Lansdowne police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Wildwood Avenue for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred. Local police, along with Yeadon EMS, arrived to find a 39-year-old woman on the floor of her living room with multiple stab wounds. Family members were trying to stop her wounds from bleeding.

While she was still at the house, the woman told authorities a man she knew only as “Lucky” stabbed her after demanding money for her estranged husband’s drug debts, according to the probable cause affidavit for Scott’s arrest, authored by East Lansdowne Police Sgt. James Cadden. The woman said “Lucky” is her husband’s drug dealer and had been to the house on several occasions in the past. She said that when she did not produce the money he demanded, “Lucky began to stab her multiple times with a knife,” the affidavit states.

Cadden interviewed the victim at the hospital, just before she was taken into surgery. At the time, she was visibly shaken and emotional, but able to speak and answer questions. She recalled that earlier in the day she was watching television with her 12-year-old son when she heard a knock at the door. She opened the door to find “Lucky,” her husband’s drug dealer, who demanded money for her husband’s debts. She told “Lucky” that she kicked her husband out of the house, filed for divorce, and obtained a protection from abuse order, and that she would not be paying his drug debts.

“Lucky pushed open the door, entered the doorway and began stabbing her with a knife,” the affidavit states, noting the woman was stabbed once in the stomach area and twice to her lower back. After the assault, Lucky fled the house and drove off in a black Dodge Charger with tinted windows. She told Cadden that she believed the vehicle belonged to Lucky’s girlfriend.

As part of the investigation, Cadden spoke to the 12-year-old boy, and also conducted several follow-up interviews with the victim. In a subsequent interview, the victim described the knife used by her attacker as having a fixed blade with possibly a teal/blue handle.

Through the investigation, Scott was developed as a suspect, according to Cadden, and the victim was shown an array of photographs, including an image of Scott.

According to the affidavit, the victim positively identified Scott as her attacker. A previous resident of Wildwood Avenue who is familiar with a drug dealer named Lucky, positively identified Scott as the individual with that street name, the affidavit states.

Scott was taken into custody at his girlfriend’s home in Glenolden on Saturday, about 3:30 p.m., Cadden said.

According to the affidavit, the knife used in the attack has not been recovered.

Scott is additionally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possessing an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

A preliminary hearing is listed for Feb. 19 before Magisterial District Judge W. Keith Williams.

It was not immediately known if Scott had retained an attorney.

Officers from Glenolden and Darby Borough assisted in the investigation.
