A TOTAL DISGRACE
To the three young men who felt the need to disgrace our country’s symbol of freedom, shame on you. It’s bad enough you took the flags from a church lawn, but you felt the need to break them as well. Disgraceful.
THE MARCH OF DICTATORS
In the Daily Times on Saturday, July 6, in the National and World news feed by The Associated Press, there is a short on the Independence Day military parade in Venezuela which reads in part: “Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro oversaw a grand military parade to mark the country’s independence day Friday, reveling in his might as commander in chief as the embattled leader comes under mounting criticism for using brutal tactics to crush his opponents. Maduro applauded and pumped his fist as soldiers marched past, tanks rolled by and fighter jets streaked overhead at Caracas. The parade served as a demonstration of Maduro’s continuing support from the military amid a political standoff with opposition leader Juan Guaido, who is trying to oust Maduro.” Now, just change the names in this story from Maduro to Trump, and from Guaido to Pelosi and from Caracas to Washington. Same, same story, different countries. Who is better off? You decide!

Hopefully, especially parents, will pay close attention to this Sound Off. There are two amazing videos on Netflix, YouTube, or DVDs: “Forks Over Knives” and “What the Health” that will help prevent you and your family from getting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, etc. Yes, despite my leftleaning tendencies, I am recommending that Democrats, Independents and yes, Republicans, even Trumpers, view these flicks! Making knowledgeable food choices is the most important thing we will do to enable us to have a high quality of life. This is in reply to “FYI” in Sunday’s sound off about county duties. “FYI,” you are the one who needs to get the facts straight. I have worked at the polls for umpteen years and I have never worked for the county. And no one else who works at the polls in our community has ever been a county employee! MRS. Z.
THANK TRUMP
As reported in recent editions of the Daily Times, the budget for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was completed on time. Moreover, it appears that there is a substantial amount of money available for increases in spending at all levels of education, as well as other items. This has been accomplished without a tax increase of any kind. The reasonableness of Gov. Wolf is to be commended, as is the resolution of the Republican-controlled Legislature. Of course, little of this would have been possible without a growing overall economy. And for that, credit has to go mainly to the man the media loves to hate.
THE END IS NEAR
A comment was made today regarding “Trump’s treatment of commenter’s children.” I would assume the children in question are immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally and for the most part are being treated better than where they came from. President Trump has been accused of putting children in cages, which is what Obama’s people did. And one more thing: There has been request for monies to handle immigrants denied by the Democrats. The Democrats originally claimed there was no crisis at our borders it was a “manufactured crisis” that only existed in Trump’s mind. But now that theme has failed, so now they admit we have a crisis at out border that is costing the U.S tons of money. The Democrats are all for open borders and free medical treatment and everyone is welcomed here for all the free stuff. A vote for a Democrat in 2020 is the beginning of the end for you and me, my children, and my grandchildren.
