LOOSEN UP

Your screw is loose, whoever called in and said we should chip in for some food, clean water and soap or the children at the border. Your screw is really loose. We’re paying for that every day. And they’re not being treated like criminals. Their parents are criminals for bringing them here illegally. But as far as you saying we should help pay for all of that, we already are paying for it. So your screw is so loose that, in fact, I think it fell out.

A FAKE PARTY

I don’t know how many people received the Faith Freedom Coalition questionnaire to fill out. Supposedly it’s going to the Republicans and Democrats, but at the end they are requesting donations to President Donald Trump. This is a farce. This is fake. This is for Donald Trump only. I’m a Republican but I really don’t appreciate the fakeness of this. The Republican Party is turning into just one big fake, false organization. I’m very saddened by this. WHAT A FAKE

THE RIGHT STUFF

You know, the women winning the World Cup again is so great in so many ways. But here’s one of the ways that nobody is even talking about. It will help bring them equal pay. You know the outrageous pay that is given to all these people in the NFL and hockey and Major League Baseball. Think about it. The women have now won two World Cups in a row and what has the men’s team done? Nothing at all, but the men get paid more. Mm. So the team that doesn’t do as well gets paid less. Why should they get paid less than a team that doesn’t do as well as they do? I bet you a good lawyer out there could fight and win this case in court. Hey, what’s right is right.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Almost weekly there are items in Sound Off bashing some politician as “socialist” or condemning socialism in general. I have to wonder if people who mindlessly spew this stuff actually know what socialism is, or if they are merely parroting the fearmongering of so-called “pundits?” Many, maybe most of these folks who spread the fear are working and middle class people. What fortunes do they believe they have amassed that would be threatened by socialism? I’d bet many of them have meager savings. Do they believe that, in the quest to “distribute everything equally to everyone” – which is probably a description of their (mis)understanding of the word — their savings will be taken from them so that everyone else can have a piece? They probably don’t even realize or believe that we already have socialist elements built into our way of life in the U.S. As Herr Trump would say, “Sad.” JB

POINTS TO PONDER

I keep reading and hearing people complaining about Trump putting military hardware on display for the 4th of July celebration. Now, I am not a Trump supporter. But people are complaining how much money he spent, and I feel if he did less those same people would complain how little he spent. I personally think it was good to put out the military equipment. Kids would be awestruck to be up close and personal with it. A patriotic inspiration. But what surprises me the most is not one complaint from gun advocates about big guns on the street. Something to think about. WONDERING

THERE THEY GO AGAIN

Joe Biden, in response to the gridlock in D.C., referred to his bygone days working across the isle with segregationist. The point being you must work with people who differ from yourself in ideals, politics, and even character to get things done. Some candidates took his remarks out of context and attacked the front runner simply to elevate themselves. A snowball has a better chance of surviving hell than these Biden critics have of beating Trump in 2020. We also have this group of freshmen congresswomen, who should be listening and learning the ins and outs of D.C. politics, but instead are damaging their party with their extreme leftist rhetoric. After Speaker Pelosi verbally put them in their place, they attacked the only woman proven to come out on top going toe to toe with Donald Trump. If the Democrats do one thing well, it’s to mess up a clear path to victory. JAY FROM UPPER PROVIDENCE
