Offense powers Middletown past Upper Darby

Springfiel­d broke out the lumber to knock off Delco League leader Upper Darby Friday night.

Tim Hopper and Dan McMenamin stroked four hits each to pace the Colonials to a 14-3 romp over the Blue Sox at Church Road Field.

Hopper and McMenamin both went 4-for4, with Hopper driving in four runs and scoring once and McMenamin adding two runs scored and one RBI. Brandon DiChachio contribute­d two hits, three runs scored and two RBIs, while Cole Pailis was 2-for-5 and scored three times.

Joe Samahod went the route to get the win. He allowed six hits and struck out four. He also was 2-for-4 with two run scored and one RBI. NARBERTH 10, CONCORD 3 >> Skipper Steve DiBarberie wasted no time giving the Mudcats an early lead. His three-run triple was the big blow in a four-run uprising in the bottom of the first inning. He scored on a sac fly by Ryan Guckin.

Tommy Toal also knocked in three runs with a pair of hits. Sean Spratt went 2-for-3 and scored three times and Mike White was 3-for-4 with one run scored. James Kelly fanned six and allowed two hits in four innings to get the win and help the Mudcats move into second place.

Ben Burman and Ben Faso knocked in one run each for the Canes.

Babe Ruth 14U

Jake Micewski used his arm and bat to keep Broomall-Newtown undefeated in pool play at the state tournament with a 5-3 victory over Altoona.

Micewski allowed seven hits, one walk and struck out six in seven innings to get the win. He also was 4-for-5 at the plate. Owen Mathes drilled a two-run double in a three-run outburst in the fourth inning.

Senior EDCO

Grant Wallace came out of the bullpen to get the last four outs to send Marple I into the semifinals with an 8-7 victory over Garnet Valley.

T.J. Luskin, Brian Protesto, Mike McDevitt and James Luskin had multiple hit games to help the Tigers take the quarterfin­al series, 2-1. Kevin Sessa got the win. Marple I faces Ridley in the semis.

Sean Ellison went 2-for-2 for Garnet Valley.
