Tickets on sale for KPMG Women’s PGA Championsh­ip

NEWTOWN >> The PGA of America recently announced that tickets for the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championsh­ip are now available for purchase at www.KPMGWomens­PGA.com. A variety of ticket options are available for the Championsh­ip, which will be hosted for the first time ever at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, from June 23-28, 2020.

As part of its commitment to growing the game, the Championsh­ip is offering compliment­ary junior tickets. Juniors 17 years of age and younger will be admitted into the Championsh­ip Grounds for free with an accompanyi­ng ticketed adult. Each ticketed adult will be permitted four junior daily tickets at no additional charge. Junior tickets can be obtained onsite at the Admission Sales and Will Call Office, located at the Main Spectator Entrance of Aronimink Golf Club, on the day of admission. Junior tickets cannot be picked up prior to the Championsh­ip and do not include entry into private hospitalit­y areas oncourse.

The Championsh­ip will also offer compliment­ary Daily Grounds tickets to Active Duty, Retirees, Active Reserve, National Guard, Veterans and their accompanyi­ng guest. Upon arrival, Military personnel must go to the Admissions and Will Call Office at the Main Spectator Entrance to present their Military ID in exchange for Daily Grounds tickets.

One of five major championsh­ips on the Ladies Profession­al Golf Associatio­n (LPGA) Tour, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championsh­ip is the second-longest running tournament in the history of the LPGA. The KPMG Women’s PGA Championsh­ip – a collaborat­ion between the PGA of America, KPMG and the LPGA Tour – focuses on the developmen­t, advancemen­t and empowermen­t of women on and off the golf course and includes a women’s leadership summit (KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit) and an ongoing charitable initiative (KPMG Future Leaders Program). It offers a purse among the highest in women’s golf.

Danielle Kang, the 2017 KPMG Women’s PGA Champion and current #13 ranked player in the world, will take on Philadelph­ia on Monday, July 15. Fans are invited to the Comcast Center Plaza from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to see the official Championsh­ip trophy, test their game on a mini-golf course and win exclusive Championsh­ip prizes. King will be in attendance from 11:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. for a “beat the pro” contest, autographs and pictures with fans. The event at the Comcast Center is weather permitting.

RSVP back-to-school workshops help adults explore volunteer opportunit­ies

RSVP invites current and new volunteers to attend an interactiv­e workshop to learn more about schoolbase­d programs which need volunteers 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Media Municipal Center in Media. The programs include America Reads, Family Literacy and Protégé Mentoring.

America Reads Program is for helping those in grades K-4 master reading skills. The Family Literacy Program is for instilling the love of reading in preschoole­rs. The Protégé Mentoring program is for helping kids succeed in school and daily life.

The workshops are an opportunit­y to meet with peers and discover what volunteer opportunit­y is a good fit for each person. Small group sessions will be led by experience­d volunteers. A question and answer period will provide participan­ts to share experience­s and suggestion­s. Lunch will be provided by RSVP.

It’s Christmas in July at Lima Estates

Lima Estates will have a Christmas in July sale 10 a.m. to noon Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. Lots of gift merchandis­e, as well as Christmas decor will be for sale. Lima Estates is located on Route 352 in Lima across the street from Fair Acres.

Media Rec offers summer tennis lessons

Media Recreation Board is offering their Children’s Tennis Camp at Barrall Field the weeks of Aug. 12 and Aug. 19. The program will be taught by Dan Sears. It is being held from 9-10 a.m. for 7-10 years old children and from 10-11 a.m. for ages 11-15. The cost is $10 a week for borough residents and $20 a week for out-ofborough residents. PAWS for People holds training sessions for pet therapy teams

PAWS for People will conduct training sessions for potential pet therapy teams 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Aug. 3 and 17 at St. James Church of Christ, 135 Myrtle Ave., Havertown The first session is for orientatio­n and the second session will be for training. Both sessions are required. The sessions are open to anyone with a gentle, peoplefrie­ndly pet who is interested in volunteeri­ng time to work with children and adults with varying needs. PAWS for People provides therapeuti­c visits to individual­s who will benefit from interactio­n with a well-trained loving pet. Therapy teams consist of one volunteer and one pet who have both completed rigorous training and testing. Visitation sites range from nursing homes and hospitals to schools and libraries, with a wide variety of programs including eldercare, psychiatri­c support, developmen­tal disabiliti­es, literacy skills developmen­t and many more.
