Peichel helps Nether Providence stay alive

Koll Peichel helped Nether Providence Legion bounce back from its first loss of the season and advance to the Main Line Legion championsh­ip round.

Peichel went the distance, allowed four hits and struck out seven to pace the Bulldogs to a 9-3 victory over Narberth Monday night.

The reward is a rematch Tuesday at Strath Haven Middle School in the championsh­ip round. BroomallNe­wtown handed Nether Providence a 3-2 loss last week, its first of the season, to send the Bulldogs into the losers bracket. NP had to win twice to take the title.

Tristan Corcoran paced the offense with one hit and three RBIs. Brady Mutz had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI. T.J. McNeelly collected two hits and one RBI and Andrew Yates had two runs scored, one hit and one RBI.

Delco League

Middletown scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 3-2 victory over defending champion Narberth. Matt Arbogast drove in the tying run. Winning pitcher Josh Schneider chased home the go-ahead run and Marc Cruiser doubled home what turned out to be the winning run.

Schneider tossed a complete-game, two-hitter with eight strikeouts. CONCORD 5, UPPER DARBY 2 » Frank Saviski earned the save and blasted two doubles and drove in a run for the Canes.

John Convery allowed two hits and one earned run in five innings before giving way to Saviski. Nate Sides added two hits including a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Chris Salvery added two hits, two runs scored an one RBI.

WAYNE 5, SPRINGFIEL­D 2 » Dan Williams drove in the go-ahead run as Wayne scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to move into first place.

Ed Paparella ripped a two-run single to tie the game. He finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Matt Briner was 2-for-3 and Joe Paluso allowed two earned runs and struck out five in six innings to get the win.
