Attention, Baltimore Pike travelers. You’re going to need another route this weekend.

SEPTA and PennDOT announced Tuesday they are planning two weekend closures of U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in both directions between Valley Road and Red Roof Drive in Middletown Township for rail bridge replacement.

Weather permitting, the work schedule is:

• From 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30;

• And From 8 p.m. Friday, Oct.

4, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7. Baltimore Pike will be closed in both directions both weekends.

During the weekend closures, motorists will be directed to use Route 452 (Pennell Road/Market Street) and U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur

In the event weather delays operations on either of the two scheduled weekends, work will be rescheduled for the weekend of October 11-14.
