Get ready for Bark in the Park 2019

Providence Animal Center will host its annual Bark in the Park 5K and Dog Walk & Fall Festival Oct. 26 at Rose Tree Park, in Media, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The day kicks off with a dogfriendly 5K Run at 10 a.m., led by 6ABC’s Cecily Tynan and her rescue pup, followed by a 1-mile walk at 11 a.m. While dogs are encouraged, they are not required. Pre-registration for the run and walk is available online at ProvidenceAC.org/Bark for a limited time. Registration is also available the morning of the event. Run registration opens at 9 a.m. while walk registration opens at 10:15 a.m.

After the 5K, attendees can look forward to dog contests from 12-2 p.m. hosted by Delco’s own Aunt Mary Pat, WMMR’s Steve Morrison and FOX29’s Sue Serio. Dog contests include Best Costume, Best Kisser, Best Lap Dog Over 50lbs, Best Ears and Best Tail Wagger. Medals will be awarded for gold, silver and bronze.

The day includes a low-cost a vaccine and microchip clinic from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., food trucks, nail trims, a kissing booth, pet portraits, activities for the kids and dogs, a vast raffle with two special Philly sports team raffles, which include tickets to each of to the major sports teams. People can participate in the sports raffles online if they cannot attend.
