100 N. Providence Rd., Wallingfor­d will have an Election Weekend Book Sale Saturday, Nov. 2 through Tuesday, Nov. 5. Hours are

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2; 1-4 p.m. Nov. 3; and 10 a.m. -8 p.m. Nov. 4-5. The public is invited to browse more than 5,000 books in all categories – fiction, mysteries, children’s, cookbooks, art, gardening, history, rare books, and much more.

Mary Campbell library presents watercolor workshop

MARCUS HOOK >> Mary M. Campbell Marcus Hook Library, 10th and Green Sts., will present a Watercolor Painting Workshop 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Local artist Terry Collington will teach how to paint with watercolor to create a beautiful carousel horse painting. The program is free for those over 18-years-old.

Middletown Free Library hosts ‘No Small Matter’ documentar­y

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP >> Middletown Free Library, in partnershi­p with First Up and Media-Upper Providence Free Library, will host a screening and discussion of “No Small Matter” 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.

“No Small Matter” is the premier documentar­y about the importance of highqualit­y early childhood education.

Ridley Twp. Library offers presentati­ons on organizing, estates, Medicare and nutrition

RIDLEY TOWNSHIP >> Ridley Township Public Library and Resource Center will present several programs this month.

• “Holiday Organizing” with Kim Myers will be presented 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 4. Myers, owner of Kim Myers Organizing in Woodlyn, will pass along hints and tips on how to get organized for the holiday season.

• On Wednesday, Nov. 6 at

6 p.m., the library will present a program on “Wills and Estate Planning.” The presentati­on will cover topics of advance directives, naming a guardian or executor, whether spouses should have separate or joint wills, and more. This financial fitness workshop will be presented by the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.

• A program on “Medicare Updates” will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Bill Lavery from Apprise, a non profit organizati­on dedicated to helping people understand how Medicare works, will provide attendees with new and updated informatio­n for the coming Medicare year. Medicare beneficiar­es, caregivers and anyone new to Medicare can benefit from this program.

• Rabiya Bower, regional nutritioni­st for GIANT Food Stores, will present a “Diabetes Awareness” program 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. Bower will discuss the basics of diabetes management and carbohydra­te counting. Learn tips and tricks for managing blood sugar, as well as some lowcarb recipes everyone in the family can enjoy. This class is geared towards people with pre-diabetes and diabetes being treated with diet and exercise, but all are welcome. Food samples will be provided. Modificati­ons regarding food allergies can be made if mentioned when registerin­g. Aston Public Library announces Nov. events

ASTON TOWNSHIP >> Aston Public Library will hold the following programs this month:

• Rabiya Bower, RD, LDN and regional nutritioni­st for GIANT Food Stores will visit the Aston Public Library on Monday, Nov.

18 at 11 a.m. to inform patrons about foods that can trigger inflammati­on and how to design a diet to alleviate it. Recipes and samples of inflammati­on-fighting foods will be provided.

• People can now check out a “Go Pro” camera with your library card. Go to the catalog at www.astonlibra­ry. org to reserve this item.

• Free Chair Zumba classes continue on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. in November. Chair Zumba is a gentle form of the Zumba exercise program, using a chair for support. It is accessible to all ages, genders and mobility levels.

• Free Chair Yoga will be on Saturdays at 11 starting November 30. Spaces are limited, so register through the calendar at www.astonlibra­ry.org to join the group.

• The Kids Can Build Club is at the Library on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Children can learn to build things using the library’s Lego collection and other materials. All ages are welcome.

• People who need help with an e-book reader, laptop or tablet computer can stop by for drop-in help time on Friday mornings:

10 a.m. is the time for ebook readers and 11 a.m. is the time for laptops and tablets.

• On Monday

25 at 11 a.m., the Movie Group will be viewing and discussing the movie “Poms”. There will be a free light lunch provided.

• The public is invited to stop by Tuesdays at 11 a.m. to learn the art of crochet with a diverse group with many levels of experience. People can stop by Thursdays at 6 p.m. to participat­e in a wide variety of crafts with an even more diverse group.

• The Aston Public Library Board of Trustees will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Library.

Book and Bake Sale featured at Swarthmore Public Library Nov. 7-9

SWARTHMORE >> The fall Friends of Swarthmore Public Library Book & Bake Sale will be held Nov. 7-9, and will feature a huge array of books, movies, music, sheet music, and puzzles that will satisfy a wide spectrum of interests and age groups. A large and varied assortment of homemade baked goods will also be available for sale.

The Book & Bake Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7; 9 a.m. to

7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8; and

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Friday is half-price day Saturday is Bag Day, with most books costing $5 per bag, and rare and boutique books costing $20 per bag.

The sale takes place at Swarthmore Borough Hall,

121 Park Ave., Swarthmore, and all proceeds from the sale support Swarthmore Public Library.

Kids can make Thanksgivi­ng crafts at Media Upper Providence Library

MEDIA >> Media-Upper Providence Library will present a program for children ages two and up, “Gobble Gobble! Apple Turkey Craft and Stories” 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.

The library will also hold two drop-in days for children to make Thanksgivi­ng crafts in the children’s room of the library,

1-2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. All supplies are self-serve.

Lansdowne Public Library holds comic convention

LANSDOWNE >> Lansdowne Public Library, 55 S. Lansdowne Ave., will hold “Comic Jawn,” a comic convention with vendors, craft tables, panels, contests, games and more, 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. All are welcome to the free event.

The day after, on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m., the public is invited to travel back in time to hear ballads of Robin Hood from the 15th Century. Light refreshmen­ts will be served, and people are welcome to bring their own food and drink as well. This event will feature four actors reading some of the oldest surviving ballads of everyone’s favorite outlaw.
