Gov. Wolf stands with Delco Dems
On Tuesday, voters in Delaware County have a chance to make history by voting for our Democratic candidates. Dr. Monica Taylor, Elaine Schaefer, Christine Reuther and Jack Stollsteimer are experienced and ready to move Delaware County forward. I’m more than proud to endorse Monica, Elaine, Christine and Jack, and ask voters in Delco to support them on Tuesday.
In Harrisburg, I’ve led the fight on ethics reform, signing a ban on gifts for all political appointees under my jurisdiction and introducing my “Citizens First” ethics reform plan, which includes a gift ban for public officials, campaign finance reform, outside income transparency, and pay-to-play protections. Democrats on County Council have introduced ethics reform proposals similar to my “Citizens First” plan. Yet, the Republicans running County Council refused to even hold hearings on their ethics plan or the county’s Code of Ethics and Conflict of Interests. Voters deserve new leadership that is transparent and accountable to them. It’s time to reform the way Delaware County does business.
Pennsylvania has taken great steps in the past few years to fix our broken criminal justice system and fight the opioid crisis. I’ve been proud to sign clean slate legislation and more than a half dozen other criminal justice reform bills. But our work isn’t done, and we need prosecutors at the local level who will be partners in this effort. In Delco, Jack Stollsteimer will be that partner. Jack is an experienced prosecutor with the right ideas to reform the criminal justice system, including real solutions on gun violence and our opioid crisis.
Monica, Elaine, and Christine bring a diverse set of experiences as small business owners, teachers, mothers and local government reformers. They’ll pass ethics reform, change the culture inside the courthouse, and implement a real economic development plan for Delaware County. Jack is an effective prosecutor who will be a partner in our continued efforts to make our criminal justice system fairer. All four of them have my wholehearted support, and I hope that on Tuesday, they’ll have the support of the residents of Delaware County as well.
