“Just Wondering Dan” believes it’s business as usual for politicians to use the threat of withholding money from foreign countries if they don’t help America when asked. In this case the aid was being withheld to help Donald Trump only. But I don’t expect low-intellect Trump followers to understand the difference. JAY FROM UPPER PROVIDENCE
CHOKED UP
I love to read Other Times in the Daily Times. And in it today at 25 years ago it was 1994. They were going to have meetings to expand the Blue Route. The southern portion of it the three lanes but promises made — you know, to the opponents of the road in Swarthmore, the tree huggers — stopped that. So now you see the irony of this is that that bottleneck occurs down near Swarthmore several times a day. They are breathing all those fumes and all that carbon monoxide.
IT’S A RIP
When are these food stores going to stop with these digital coupons? I am an older person and I have much trouble with them. I do not have a smart phone so I have to use my computer to put them in and many times they don’t come off. I know there is a kiosk or some kind of help in the store but that’s not the point. These coupons are discriminatory. Older people and poor people lose the savings and for what reason? Shopping is like a job now! Can’t some consumer group help?
SICK AND TIRED
Just wondering if anybody out there besides me is sick and tired of these Medicare advertising on TV . They’re flooding the airwaves with it. It’s got to stop. Thank you. YEECH
STATE OF AFFAIRS
Your sob story in Nov. 5 paper about the ex-ambassador to the Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch. That really hit a sour note with me. She went over and blabbed to the Schiff committee and she has no right to do that. She was told by the president not to do that and whether she was fired or she quit, I don’t care. She doesn’t belong in the State Department. She does not set foreign policy. The president does. The president is elected by the people. Yovanovitch was elected by nobody. She was appointed probably by Obama and her views are different from the president. She should have resigned. She has no right to hang in there if she cannot follow the directions of the president on foreign policy. And that goes for any employee in the State Department. They’ve gotten too big for their britches. They think they run the country but they were elected to no position. LAW AND ORDER
UP IN SMOKE
Teenager suicide and drug use in the last five years or so is on the rise. And over five years ago President Obama eased all the laws on marijuana. Quite a big more teenagers are smoking it now, more than ever before. What a coincidence. THE CITIZEN
TIMES FOR A NEW LOW
Yes, this is this is in response to the Monday Sound Off “Cruel World.” The guy who called that in is too spineless to leave his name. This is in response. Do not criticize God. He does not torture people and put you in a place of everlasting pain. Okay, and we have free choice. It’s called your choice to believe or not to believe. But don’t ever criticize God. This paper has sunk to a new low and this stuff should not be allowed in there. It should be more Christian. It’s just outrageous. I would never buy this tissue paper-thin paper again.
CLEAN-UP CREW
At a rally in Kentucky Trump said if the Democrats get in there we’ll have a depression the likes of which we’ve never. His supporters may be stupid enough to believe that but those of us with brains remember the last time we almost had a depression was under George Bush and the Republicans. It was a Democrat, Barack Obama, who turned the economy around with absolutely no help at all from the Republicans. So once again Republicans talk the talk, but they don’t walk the walk. They are the ones, not the Democrats, who are fiscally irresponsible and every time they make a mess the Democrats need to come in and clean it up. ONE WHO KNOWS
