Record cold, some snow takes aim at region
Mother Nature is having something of an identity crisis.
That sunshine and high of 63 we enjoyed Monday afternoon? Hope you enjoyed it.
Today things will take a turn for the worse - especially if you dislike cold weather.
A massive cold front will swoop down out of Canada Tuesday morning, sparking snow flurries and the coldest temperatures of the season.
Temperatures in some areas could plunge by as much as 30 degrees.
Clouds will begin forming overnight, and rain likely will start early Tuesday morning. It will get colder by the hour and snow showers could leave a snowy coating on some grassy and unpaved surfaces. There is supposed to be little or no accumulation.
The big story
Tuesday and into Wednesday will be temperatures going off a cliff, perhaps as much as 40 degrees lower than Monday afternoon.
How bad is it going to be? The National Weather Service is calling for a low of just 22 degrees Wednesday. The record low is 24 set back in 1996. The high isn’t going to be a lot better, with the thermometer struggling to hit 33 for a high.
The normal high for the date is 55 degrees. We won’t even get a sniff of that. Or a sneeze either.
The afternoon is breezy and much colder with temperatures in the 30s and wind chills likely in the 20s.
Luckily, this is only expected to last a few days. We’ll be headed back into the 40s later Thursday and near 50 Friday.
