Phelan’s late burst paces Widener

Erin Phelan saved her best for last Thursday night.

Phelan scored eight of her team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter to help Widener rally for a

63-57 victory over Salisbury in women’s college basketball action.

Widener trailed, 5150, when Phelan got hot. She scored five straight points to put the Pride up for good,

54-51. Salisbury never got closer than two points after that burst.

Phelan also had seven rebounds.

Devan Rimmer pitched in with 14 points. NEUMANN 96, PSU-BRANDYWINE 78 » Solid shooting, especially from deep, powered the Knights over the visiting Lions.

Neumann shot 45.5 percent overall and 41.9 percent from 3-point range for its first win of the season.

Shaylah Green paced the Knights with 22 points. Lauren Leich was 5-for-9 from deep and finished with 19 points.

Chelsea Keebler connected on 4 of 8 shots from beyond the arc and had 17 points.

Terea Hunt added 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Ashley Jones led the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

18 points and 12 boards, while Marissa Mackins added 15 points, six assists and five rebounds. 11 for Brandywine.

Men’s Basketball

Draig Ruff, Gabe Perez and Michel Bowlers combined for 22 points in the second half to help Eastern erase a six-point deficit to pull out a 56-48 victory over Penn State-Schuylkill.

Ruff led the Eagles with 14 points. He also had eight rebounds and five steals.

Perez finished with 12 points and seven rebounds and Bowlers had 10 points and 18 rebounds.
