The other side of the hunting argument

To the Times:

The following is a response to an op-ed written by Jenny Reimsnschneider on hunting:

Jenny , I must first commend you on writing a pretty much fictitious and entertaining letter. To say that hunters are there just for the bucks is so far out there that you are not in touch with reality. Lots, and I mean lots of hunters are out in the cold, rain,or whatever to hunt. And I mean to put meat on the table and even to the food kitchens, which a lot of hunters do.

If you’ve ever been to the meeting prior to the hunt at anyplace where a regulated hunt is scheduled, the first thing the park rangers and game commission ask is to shot does (females) because they are the ones that reproduce. And I’m

not or cannot answer for the “trophy hunters.” I am in the belief that there are those that hunt as you state, but overall I feel it’s for the meat. our vehicles. You must have forgotten that deer do not have any predators so we must regulate them – they do not practice safe sex.

The Game Commission and the Forestry Service can and will answer your questions on how vegetation is disappearing. Call them and put them to the test. The lyme disease/ tick problem is governed by nature so no answer to that. So please try and think there are alot of people that eat wild game – deer, bear, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, etc. And please think – beef ,pork, chicken are used to feed us along with living plants. Some might say there is a reason we are at the top of the food chain – eat or be eaten! Just trying to inform you, not insult you.
