Ranked Widener women roll to stay undefeated

Being ranked agrees with the Widener women’s basketball team.

A day after being ranked for the first time in seven years and the second time ever the Pride rolled to a 73-52 victory over Washington (Md.) on Tuesday to remain undefeated.

The No. 24 Pride (10-0) scored 23 of the first 29 points to take control early and finished the Shorewomen with a 16-5 run to close the game.

Devan Rimmer, as usual, led the way for the Pride, who are off to their best start in program history.

She led all scorers with 21 points. Kyra Schenk added 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Jordan D’Ambrosio (Springfiel­d) contribute­d 11 points off the bench.

DREXEL 69, LA SALLE 31 >> The Dragons (6-4) were dominant on both ends of the floor, especially on defense. The 31 points was the second-fewest ever allowed by Drexel.

Bailey Greenberg paced four players in double figures with 16 points and six rebounds. Kate

Connolly came off the bench for 12 points. Keishana Washington finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists, while Anna Ferariu had 10 points and three assists.

Jordan Lewis led the Explorers (6-5) with eight points.

Men’s Basketball

William Blet, Victor Pena and

Clifton Adams combined for 47 points, but it wasn’t enough as Eastern fell to the College of Saint Joseph, 77-60, in the HoopMIA Holiday Shootout in Miami.

Blet paced the Eagles (4-6) with 18 points and six rebounds. Pena had 17 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Adams chipped in with 12 points, four boards and two helpers.
