Taylor’s bucket the difference in Chester win

Natonya Taylor’s go-ahead layup with a minute to play lifted the Chester High girls basketball team to its first win of the season with a 31-29 decision over Chichester.

Taylor scored a game-high 11 points for the Clippers (18, 1-2) to go with eight assists.

The Clippers defense held the Eagles scoreless over the final minute of regulation.

Denaysia Smith added eight points and six assists for Chichester.

Day’Ami Moyet had 10 points for Chi. Elsewhere in the Del Val League:

ACADEMY PARK 69, INTERBORO 50 >> Gabrielle Jackson poured in 32 points to lead the Knights over the Bucs. Lashay Jackson netted 22 points and Sierra Thomas chipped in with nine.

Sierra Diawara tallied 17 points and Aniya Boland added

16 for the Bucs.

In the Catholic League:

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 59, ST. HUBERT 34 >> The Patriots found themselves trailing at the end of one quarter, but began to hit their stride in the second stanza.

Carroll held a four-point advantage at halftime and outscored Hubert in the third quarter, 25-8.

All-Delco Erin Sweeney led the way with 15 points. Grace O’Neill tossed in 12 points, while Karli Dougherty and Maggie Grant pitched in with eight apiece. Sweeney and Dougherty pulled in six rebounds apiece and O’Neill dished out five assists for the Patriots, who improved to 4-4 in the Catholic League.

NEUMANN-GORETTI 67, BONNER-PRENDERGAST 52 >> The Pandas were ahead by nine points at halftime, but the Catholic League-leading Saints closed the game on a 43-17 run.

Bridie McCann paced the Pandas with 15 points. Alexis Eagan and Aniyah Jackson added 11 points apiece.

N-G’s Diamond Johnson 10 of her game-high 26 points in the third period.

In the Inter-Ac League:

PENN CHARTER 60, NOTRE DAME 30 >> The Irish were held to single digits in every quarter. Sophomore Maeve McErlane tallied a team-high 11 points. 1-4) were blanked in the fourth quarter in their lowest offensive output of the season.
