Seifried keys Springfield swimming victory
Matthew Seifried and Tom Ronayne inspired consecutive 1-2 finishes for Springfield in the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley, respectively, to help the Cougars start fast en route to a 95-75 win over Lower Merion Tuesday.
Seifried also won the 500 free and swam legs on the winning 200 and 400 free relays. The latter was with Ronayne, who won the 100 butterfly. Logan DeConti also captured the 100 backstroke for the Cougars.
Also in the Central League: UPPER DARBY 94, HARRITON 82 >> Kevyn Daly won the 200 free and swam a leg on the winning 200 free relay as the Royals’ depth shone through on the way to victory.
Patrick Rankin captured the 500 free, Duncan McConnell won the
100 back and Joe Ricci was the top scorer in diving for Upper Darby.
In the Inter-Ac League: HAVERFORD SCHOOL 102, PENN CHARTER 81 >> Brian Brennan won the 50 free and 400 free, and Jack Deppen bested the field in the 200 IM and 100 back to lead the Fords
(2-1) to a victory.
AJ Rosenberger was the top diver, Ryan LaRocca won the 100 breaststroke and Antonio Octaviano took part in three victorious relays for Haverford.
In the Catholic League: BONNER-PRENDERGAST 72, ARCHBISHOP RYAN 9 >> Master Jones won the 200 IM and 100 breast to lead the Friars in a meet where four events featured no entries.
Josh Bryan won the 200 free, and Andrew Kesser prevailed in the 50 for Bonner, which won the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Girls Swimming
Grace McBlain accounted
for
Bonner-Prendergast’s only two wins as the Pandas kept close to Archbishop Ryan but dropped a
92-69 Catholic League decision to Archbishop Ryan.
McBlain captured the 200 free in
2:09.13. She doubled it up by winning the 100 fly in 1:04.31.
In the Central League:
LOWER MERION 105, SPRINGFIELD 65 >> Michelle Kubiak was quickest in the 100 and 200 free, and Mary Kubiak prevailed in the 100 back one event after anchoring the Cougars to victory in the 200 free relay. HARRITON 119, UPPER DARBY 66 >>
Emily Lehman’s victory in the 200 free was the lone swimming victory on the day for the Royals. Cordelia Coppola was the top scorer in diving for UD.
Bowling
Mike Davis rolled a 277 high game and 663 high series as Bonner-Prendergast swept Archbishop Wood, 4-0, in Catholic League bowling action.
Kevin Williams showed the consistency to roll a 752 high series and 256 high game, and Jake Hall checked in with a 244 high game for the Friars.
