Springfiel­d dials Long distance to top Haverford

Alyssa Long finished what Springfiel­d started, the gritty guard burying a 25-foot buzzer beater to lift the visiting Cougars to a 26-23 triumph over Haverford in Central League basketball Thursday.

The Cougars got a piece of the Fords’ inbounds pass with 1.7 ticks left to set up the fateful shot.

Long finished with a team-high 10 points, Alexa Abbonizio eight.

Caroline Dotsy led the Fords with a dozen points.

RIDLEY 56, MARPLE NEWTOWN 28 >> Dakota McCaughan scored 22 points to go over

1,000 in her career as the Green Raiders rolled.

McCaughan nailed six three-pointers. Shannen Hinchey added 10 points. GARNET VALLEY 47, STRATH HAVEN 29 >> Gianna Preising scored 13 points, Liesl Dentinger eight to lead the Jaguars to victory.

Abbey Anderson added 10 points, drilling a pair of three-pointers.

Danielle McNeely got 10 points for the Panthers.

RADNOR 57, LOWER MERION 35 >> Ellie Mueller registered 19 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Raiders.

Brienne Williams added 11 points, Caitlin Higgins 10 as the Raiders cruised to a

20-10 lead at the intermissi­on. Bridget McCann led the Aces with eight points.

In Catholic League action: ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 51, BONNER-PRENDERGAS­T 40 >> Erin Sweeney tallied 24 points, Grace O’Neill 14 to spark Carroll.

Sweeney rang up eight points in both the first and fourth quarters for the Patriots, who made 11 of 17 free throws in the final frame.

Taylor Wilson added eight points for the Patriots, who carried a 21-9 lead into the intermissi­on.

Bridie McCann led B-P with 10 points. In Del Val action:

PENN WOOD 71, CHICHESTER 39 >> La’Shonda Smith registered 21 points, including a couple of 3-pointers to spark the Patriots, who built a 25-11 lead in the first quarter.

Ashley Cyrus added 11 points and five steals. Joshelyn Carter four points and seven steals for the Patriots. Xenia Gillis (four rebounds) and Jada Hutt (five rebounds, four steals) added six points each. INTERBORO 62, CHESTER 17 >> Aniya Boland and Kilamani Jackson scored 11 points each, Sierra Diawara 13 to lead the Bucs (6-9). UPPER DARBY 52, PENNCREST 43 >> Gabby Liberio scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds and added three steals to spark the host Royals to their third victory in four games.

Caitlyn Johnson made four of six free throws in the final frame to fend off a Lions comeback. Johnson, Jasmine Forrester

and Hannah Asaka all had eight points for the Royals (6-8, 5-5).

Bridget Dawson led the Lions with a dozen points.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 65, SUN VALLEY 42 >> Aliceia Whitfield led the Vanguards with 15 points and Micayla Heygood added nine.

Emily Greer led Rustin, which scored the last 15 points of the first half with 16 points.

In the Bicentenni­al League:

DELCO CHRISTIAN 33, PHIL-MONT CHRISTIAN 25 >> Junior Emily Smith hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored a game-high 12 points to pace the Knights to their fourth straight victory.

Sophmore Caitlyn Goneau backed Smith with nine points, and the defense limited Phil-Mont to single digits in every quarter.
