Ridley uses its depth to swim past Strath Haven

Ridley only won one event, the

200 freestyle relay, but used its depth to eke out a 95-90 win over Strath Haven Friday.

Ridley’s relay of Melissa Clements, Alexandra Rechner, Alexis Murrin and Maggie Moran was the only win the Green Raiders would get, but that and its depth were enough to notch the win.

Sydney Bergstrom, a sophomore from Strath Haven, finished first in the 200 individual medley and the 500 free. Teammate Ella Shifflet won the 50 free and 100 butterfly. Mia Yancey finished first 200 free and 100 backstroke. Sophie Bergstrom won the

100 free and 100 breast, and Noa Dijstelblo­em won diving with a score of 212.55

HAVERFORD 113, LOWER MERION 73 >> Haverford came out on top in all three relays, and Katya Eruslanova finished in first in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.

Julia Curran finished first in the 500 free, Abby Krissinger took the victory in the 200 free and sister Sarah Krissinger won the 100 free.

CONESTOGA 105, SPRINGFIEL­D 73 >> Alena Chung scored a victory in the 100 breast, while Michelle Kubiak (500 free) and Mary Kubiak (100 back) also won individual events.

In the Ches-Mont League: RUSTIN 108, SUN VALLEY 76 >> Keeley Durkin finished first for Sun Valley in the 200 free with a seven-second edge. Durkin also won the 100 fly.

Sun Valley won the 50 free and

100 back via Jenna Johnson. Eliana Blackstock took the victory for Sun Valley in diving with a score of 201.45.

Boys Swimming

Dean Carson’s score of 208.10 won diving and led Haverford to a 109-77 win over Lower Merion.

Zach Given finished first in the

100 breast and 200 IM. Jon Meyer snagged the 200 free title. s RIDLEY 102, STRATH HAVEN 81 >> Freshman Eric Boeckx won the

100 breast and the 100 freestyle. He was also a part of Ridley’s winning 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

Aidan Moran finished first for Ridley in the 200 free. Brandon Redkar won the 50, Wyatt Shanks claimed the 200 IM and Ryan Dorrin was the top diver. Danny Lynch finished first in the 100 fly.

Ethan Roberts of Strath Haven found a spot at the top in the

100 breast, and Alex Ivanovich claimed first place 500. CONESTOGA 99, SPRINGFIEL­D 86 >> Matthew Seifried won the 200 free for Springfiel­d and added a win in the 500. Logan DeConti won the 100 back, and Tom Ronayne won the 100 fly. Etienne Arnoult secured the victory in diving.

In the Ches-Mont League: RUSTIN 104, SUN VALLEY 79 >> Nick Fursman won the 100 free and

100 breast for Sun Valley, and Timmy Gauzza took the victory in the 100 back.

Wrestling

Garnet Valley won the first seven matches and held on for dear life late in a 32-30 win over Owen J. Roberts in the quarterfin­als of the District 1 Class 3A Duals, but fell to top-seeded Quakertown, 53-9, in the semifinals.

Pins by Francis Reagan (106), Matthew Ricci (113) and Sam DiTrolio (220) led the Jags to compile a 32-0 lead.

Dillon Conlon, Nicholas Mahoney and Kevin Puliti won by decision at 195, 285 and 120, respective­ly, and Griffin Hollingswo­rth added a tech fall at 126.

The Jaguars were only pinned twice to make sure those 32 points held up, with Desmon Perry staying off his back to lose at decision at 170 and ensure the Jags prevailed.

Decisions by Ricci, Hollingswo­rth and Conlon were the only points the Jags got against Quakertown.

Interboro dropped a 52-15 decision in the quarterfin­als to Council Rock South, then fell to Henderson, 46-19, in the consolatio­n round.

Nate Shippey scored a pin against CR South at 113 pounds. Shalom Thomas (285), Chase Gallo (120) and Jerry Curran (170) added wins by decision for the Bucs.

In the Inter-Ac League: EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 51, PENN CHARTER 12 >> Pins by Derek Coleman at 145 pounds and Nicholas Bernabei at 170 gave EA a win. Matt McHugh added a major decision at 120 pounds, and Alex Sladek won by technical fall at 132.

GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 45, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 21 >> Matthew Brosko’s 10-7 win over Harrison Levans in the 220-pound bout was the only contested weight class in which the Fords prevailed.
