Fichera’s career day powers Sacred Heart

Carina Fichera had a career day, scored 20 points on 10 made baskets and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 58-40 nonleague girls basketball win for Sacred Heart over Morrisvill­e Wednesday.

Kayleigh Doyle also tallied a double-double with 14 points, 10 assists and six steals, and Ainsley Davis added nine points for the Lions.

Boys Basketball

Amiri Stewart was a

perfect 6-for-6 from the line in the fourth quarter to finish with 17 points and lead Archbishop Carroll to a 60-57 win over Catholic League rival Cardinal O’Hara Wednesday night.

The 17 points constitute the second-highest output of the season for the senior guard, coming at the right time to halt a three-game Carroll slide.

Tairi Ketner added 16 points, including six in a fourth quarter where Carroll outscored O’Hara,

14-8. Anquan Hill added 13 points (all in the first half) to go with six rebounds and five assists for the Patriots (13-8, 7-6 PCL).

Adrian Irving scored 16 points, and Tre Dinkins added

15 points on five made 3-pointers for Cardinal O’Hara. Solo Bambara added 14 points for the Lions (15-6, 8-5 PCL).

Boys Swimming

In a winner-take-all 400 freestyle relay, Archbishop Carroll got the job done.

The relay squad of Jack Goehringer, Christophe­r Homes, Brendan Gould and Liam Brady won the event in 4:10.03, eking out a 70-68 win over Bonner-Prendergas­t.

Goehringer won the 100 butterfly and 100 back for Carroll. Holmes was also part of the winning 200 free relay.

James Bryan (50 free, 100 free) and Josh Bryan (200 free, 500 free) won two events each for Bonner-Prendie.

Girls Swimming

Madeline Reavey won the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke to pace Bonner-Prendergas­t to a 73-16 win over Archbishop Carroll.

Margaret Ahern (200 free) and Hailey Bierling (100 free) added wins for Bonner-Prendie. Carroll’s Julia Cavanaugh claimed the 50 free (in a tight race with Maggie Blemings) and the 100 breaststro­ke.
